Geez, I discovered GFC campers and really like them! How are your guy's experience with them? Wanting/liking it is really a moot point for me cause it's way too expensive for me and looks like no way to get it to Hawaii.

They recommend you get campers installed at their locations, which of course is not an option for you. Their website says to contact them about freight options if you don't want to do that. My guess is they'd have to put it on a ship for you and would cost a small fortune.

They are rad, but with how much it rains in Hawaii and the ongoing leaking issues, it may not be the best option. But then again not sure if there is a best option for getting a camper to Hawaii!

I don't ever want the tent, just the camper top. I love the idea of stacking shit on top and also the small awning when all 3 doors are open.

And yup, no matter what, it'll be a small fortune to get one...

I picked up my aluminum shell, with a rack, a windoor on the passenger side and tool box on the driver side, for $400 from a used car dealership. The deals are out there

Why not just go with a topper like RSI smart cap? Seems to have what you are looking for and would possibly be available at a local topper dealer?

The tent is sick. I wouldn't want it though. I just would want the flat topper model.

I've had my eye on an RSI SmartCap and they are sold out everywhere. Been on a waiting list since October and I can't even find a used one anywhere...If anyone has any leads, let me know. I'm in the Denver area.

I don't know about that. In light of how expensive a Kimbo or Scout is, I think the build quality they offer, at the price, seems totally reasonable. If I didn't have my Westy, I'd 100% get one.

theres a couple threads on rsi around here. it sounds like they finally got their texas plant open and should be cranking out some tacoma caps. hopefully the next couple months there will be an influx of stock. though the first 500-1000 might still have the old locks

GFC camper shell & truck bed bike mounts added
We love the inside of the camper - spacious and comfortable.

But, we’ve had issues with the mounting brackets in the truck bed - they bend and wear-out/break after a long off-road drive. We have to re-tighten them daily on trips and have gone through two sets in about a year.

We’ve also broken two windows. When the truck bed flexes on a technical road, the camper can shift forward into the back cabin window.

Nonetheless, still an advocate of GFC. Just hoping to work with their engineering team on the mounts.
