The dealer must've tighten the oil filter to at 70+ ft lbs of torque. I was able to use a breaker bar along with the Motivx wrench to finally get it free (barely). Now the Motivx wrench is completely stuck to the oil filter. I've reinstalled, hammered, jiggled, tightened, untightened, hammered, etc... and it is not coming off.

    Anyone have ideas?

Could I just leave the wrench on and drive around until my next oil change and then take it in somewhere and have them deal with it? Or would oil leak out?

I feel up a creek without a car until I can figure this out.

Wondering if I just need to buy a whole new wrench and oil filter housing or whatever the part is called....

Did you try using a long extension and wiggle the extension side to side and back and forth while the housing is installed? A long extension should give some leverage to gain a little bit of movement. Just a thought.

You could apply some careful heat with a heat gun. The aluminum filter wrench will expand quicker than the plastic.

    Just getting started.
Take a box wrench and use it to bang the side of the Motivx to loosen the filter housing. Works like a charm on stuck router collets, and I've done it before with the Motivx before switching to a metal housing.

The plastic filter housings have a ton of seal drag. Use a 1/2” breaker bar and slowly with even pressure unthread. 3/8” ratchets are not stiff enough.
I torque my plastic filter housing and it’s a bitch you thread with my 24” long 1/2” breaker bar.

Try just dropping it so the wrench hits the ground first. Try from a few heights.

I had this problem on a Hazet 2169 filter wrench cup that I used for German cars. I tightened the filter back onto the housing and was able to gently rock it back and fourth. Eventually it would pop off.

I have the older version of the Motivx Toyota tool and between the old Camry and current 3rd gens haven't seemed to have gotten it stuck. Watch, next time I will...

Spray the wrench with WD 40 then wait a little and try to wiggle it off

I had tried this a few times and it didn't work, but I poured some oil around the filter wrench and then let it sit for an hour in hopes that gravity would help it seep in. Put the oil filter back on, wiggled quite a bit with the breaker bar again and it loosened up that time and was able to get the wrench off.

Not sure if the oil helped or not, but it couldn't have hurt...

    Thanks everyone for the help!

This worked. Oiled it and let it sit for an hour. Put it back on and wiggled with the breaker bar and it came off

My next suggestion was to offer chicken innards as a sacrifice to the gods on your exhaust manifold.
