Probably a dumb question, but right now my android phone is connected via bluetooth and I can make/receive calls and speak through truck without issue.

I also have Sirius XM on typically. My problem is that if I want to also hear sounds from my phone, like Google Maps navigation directions, I have to go to Audio-> Source and switch from XM to Bluetooth.

Is there any way I can just hear it all without having to physically switch the source?

By all I mean, XM, phone calls, phone sounds.

    Thanks,
    chris

I am no expert. But just run it all from your phone. This way you will hear all notifications, phone calls, and XM. And when Google maps needs to tell you where to go, it will just break through. Maybe some one else will have a better idea.

I'm not sure on Android but on my Iphone google maps gives me an option under navigation settings to "play as bluetooth phone call." My phone will "call" the headunit each time a direction is given and play it over the speakers. Once it's done it goes back to playing whatever input you were listening too.

I don't use it much (usually streaming from music from my phone) but would use it when I was in the exact scenario you're asking about OP.

Don't think it possible. You can get the Sirius XM app on your phone and it will stream in way better audio quality. Streaming SXM from your phone will be dependent on your phones services, though.

I pay like $4.50 a month for my truck+ access to siriusxm on a web browser or app.

Do you have the option for play as bluetooth call? That's what you need. Not play voice over bluetooth. Play as bluetooth call will call your headunit with the directions and play like you got a phone call. So it will override whatever is playing on the stereo at that time. Play voice as bluetooth only works if your phone is source device and not XM.

My screenshot is a little confusing because I have the play voice over bluetooth option on. But you really need the option below it on for it to call you car and work like you want it to.

Maybe this beautiful paint image will be better.

Oh duh, thanks for clarification. Mine has "play voice during phone calls" and "play audio cues" and both are enabled.

I think it all worked then but will try again just for kicks. Actually been trying to get Android Auto wireless to work so maybe I should focus my attention there.

The radio in the Tacomas does not support it natively. However a few of us have purchased a third party device. This thread has some more details, biggest complaint is just battery usage while operating wireless. I have been really happy with mine, coupled with the 'media port' relocation mod and it's a pretty slick setup.

I think that article is kind of misleading, the link says 'compatible with Android Auto' even though it's under the 'wireless' drop down menu. (Not specifically 'compatible with Android Auto Wireless')

As far as I know , the AAWireless device is the only working solution for AA Wireless in the Tacomas at the moment.

Confirmed, when connected via USB to android auto it works as I'd like: all sounds coming through truck.

You can? Maybe I'm missing something, but when I plug in and use Android Auto as the source it chooses Spotify as the music source. If I choose XM Radio as a source it disables Android Auto.
I thought I was able to listen to XM radio before when using AA bit cannot remember how to do it, or of I just thought I did it before, lol
