@Veet-88 that's a fantastic looking rig! Not only rugged and capable looking, but also functional I'm sure. Love the snorkel as well. Looking forward to your personal review on how the tires do in snow and ice.

Solid first impressions, freezing rain all morning followed by some wet heavy snow creating some quite terrible conditions. Still only -3 out though so not truly cold out yet.. Still slips in the back under acceleration but it's an unloaded truck not much to expect there. Braking was impressive corning I could make it understeer but really had to try so no concern there.

Veet-88 I’m very curious about this tire for winter use and really appreciate your post. Keep sending them. Can you compare the studded XDs to any other winter tire you’ve run? I really like ATs and MTs better than dedicated winter tires for really deep snow - let us know what happens in the deep stuff.

It should be the duratrac killer for people looking for winter wheeling tires.

Once we actually get some more winter up here I will update it. We get a nasty 3 day blizzard then it's been +8 pretty much ever since. Glad I rushed to be winter ready on the truck I don't drive every day.

Winter has finally arrived here with some temps as low a -38c for the better part of a week.
So far the tires still have not disappointed. Do I think a true studded winter would be better yes buuut this studded G017 is the best AT tire I have ran in winter conditions.
You still need to drive to conditions as always but they never feel scary, if you romp on it in 2wd on the Icy highway they still step out as any unloaded truck will but you can feel those studs doing their thing.

Did some other testing on ice fishing trips backing down snow/ice covered boat ramps to dump the sled and I have yet to get it stuck, the one was close but it chewed up and out.

At this point I have a permanent replacement for my usual staple duratracs.

Some proper snow testing tonight. Conditions varied from 8" to easily 20" ran these at 18psi and didn't come remotely close to stuck even with some nasty steep hills. 10/10

    Any new experiences?

I just ordered a set (35x12.50R17) for my FJ Cruiser. I have used to run with Duratracs, they have been great until treas is worn to 9 mm (11/32”). Then the winter traction is not so good any more.

Now I have BFG All-Terrains (315/70R17, Load Range C). Duratracs were very much the same in every way, All-Terrains have less tread and narrover grooves = more little stones between. The look is not so good as Duratracs.

Now I’m little concerned about the weight and stiffness of these AT XD’s. Let’s see how much comfort and MPGs I’ll lost…

But I like so much of the tread depth of these; 22/32” (17.5 mm) in 35” size!
