I don't think you saw it, but I asked you yesterday if you'd picked out your new fishing reel yet?

I picked up one of these for my bass rod that somebody gave me for Christmas (there's no bass where I live, but w/e) https://www.abugarcia.com/products/pro-max-low-profile-reel-1373563

I'd like to actually get to try it someday

Topaz is loaded with Smallies. You don't really want to be chucking a bait caster for them but it's an option. There's also some very large Rainbows and Browns that would take larger lures.

I saw it, but I edited my post after you had already replied to it.

But, I have not picked out a reel yet. I am currently using a shimano sahara 2500 on my st croix rod, so I am looking for something in that range... I was thinking a pflueger president or another sahara for it. The reel that I am using works fine as it is, but its a bit beat up and has some saltwater damage on it... plus parts are getting hard to come by for it.

Yah, I can't really see anything within a days drive around me that actually calls for a bait-caster. If I had a boat I could maybe get some use out of it at Pyramid. I have 8 or 10 spinning rods of various sizes as it is. But when somebody gifts you a rod, it's your duty to match it up with a decent reel lol

I have 3 of those Pfleuger Presidents -- Big, Med, Small. They work great for the price.

I spent a couple years in college working for a big box sporting goods retailer. Most of my money seemed to end up back at the store in fishing gear or hunting gear.

Presidents worked pretty well then? I need to go down to cabelas soon to pick one up, and see what kind of ultra light rods they have in stock.

You mean to tell me yall aint got no largey's to catch on the trusty ol Texas rig? I was fishing a golf course onetime back in Dallas with a friend and on a Texas jig caught a 6 pound bullhead catfish. I was confused at first lol. My fishing experience is limited and was just getting into it before I moved out to Phoenix.

    Doing what he does.

Anyone think that he didn't have a huge chunk of change to buy BTC right after his tweet that TSLA would stop allowing people to purchase cars with it? Since the SEC doesn't regulate crypto I bet it was another middle finger at them from Musk.

I think so. I'm pretty rough on my gear (I take care of my stuff, but it gets used pretty hard when it's used) and they've all held up fine. I have one with 4lb test that I use to fish the Truckee river with quite often.

I've caught Coho salmon on the bigger reel. They're not super saltwater friendly, but they do fine if you take them apart and keep them clean and lubed after an ocean visit.

Agreed. He's just enough rich asshole to fuck with regulators just because he can.

Link held the $ 40 barrier quite nicely. very reassuring to say the least as I was buying more.

Lucky for me all my gear is freshwater. But my uncle just shipped me a box of stuff from NY and some of it looks to have saltwater in it.

I think I am going to start getting into ultra light fishing more, tiny fish just feel huge from a smaller rod and reel.

I have two really nice salmon trolling setups and a halibut setup I left on my folk's big boat a few years ago for them to use. I hope they're still ok :(

I love ultralight fishing. I fly fish a 2wt Sage rod most of the time around here. Even a six inch fish gets fun

By far the best UL reel in it's price range. The Okuma RTX-25S has been my go to reel for the past 5 years. It's better then anything else out there and I've tried them all at this point. The drag is so smooth I've never once lost a fish because it heat locked. It's been beat and bashed and still lands me fish every time I'm out. Which is a lot.

    https://www.okumafishing.com/en/product/rtx-spinning-reel.html

If you want to get into UL more look at longer rods. The stuff in the 8' range is perfect. When you need to huck 1/32 ounce jig heads that length is critical for getting out there. The longer rod is also a lot more forgiving when you get a 10lb fish on that wants to jump or give violent head shakes.

I use an Okuma Connoisseur 9' ultralight. For a cheap rod it's treated me well. So well that I haven't upgraded it in 7 years. They don't make them anymore but any Steelhead rod would be what your looking for.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Of course not and for a good reason. We don't delete them in case the buyer needs to report the seller.

I just wish people would stop deleting all the info in the first post after they sell something... Like I want to see what you sold it for so I have a baseline for prices.
