Hello I got some General Grabber ATXs for my 2nd gen RWD prerunner the other day and I am wondering what psi I should run in the tires. The size of the tire is 265/70/16 and the max psi is 44. These are not LT tires. I haul a 14x6 utility trailer once or twice a month with a zero turn on it but that is it. I currently have 42psi cold in all 4 right now. Should I max it out at 44 or drop it down?

I tried looking up the load index on those; I'm not seeing those tires available in a 265/70/16.

Can you give the full tire spec as it appears on the sidewall? Is there a "P" prefix? What is the 3-digit number after diameter? SL or XL?

    Yes
I would drop it down to 35 cold max I would think 42 cold would run up to 45-47 hot and you really have no need to run max. If it were me I’d be 30-32 cold. It may not be an LT tire but it’s a Tacoma. Your gonna beat the hell out of the middle of your tread before anything else.

It says 112 T but also in the tire there is a "E4" with a circle around it. That may be the load rating though.

I dropped it down to 38 psi earlier and when I would swerve left and right my truck felt like it way swaying I guess would be the right word.

    112 is the load rating.
    "T" is the speed rating.
E4 is a European certification for the Netherlands.

    30 psi is sufficient.
Load capacity will increase until 36 psi.
Anything over 36 psi is to maintain the speed rating.

Will it kill my mpg if I drop it down?

Yeah, mpg will probably be affected, but you'll have a nice full contact patch.

The ATx does not come 265/70-16. The older AT2 version that everyone including General said they were discontinuing but apparently never did does. Got a picture of the sidewall with the ATx

Ouch, my bad sorry for the incorrect info.
Went to Generals web page, and looked on Discounts, and neither had the AT/x in the 265/70 R16 as an option. Thank you for correcting me, these are my next set of tires. If you look on Discounts web site they still show only AT2's for the 265/70r16.
Can you tell me where you purchased them?
Just came from Generals web page and they still dont list them as available.

For all the tires I run, I usually go by the sticker in the door jam. I have 265 70 17 wild peaks and I run them at about 30-32 psi. 20k later and they are wearing evenly.
I had a shop once inflate the tires to 38psi and I hated it. It was a noticeable stiffer ride. No need for that on our “light” trucks.

sure when you tow, I would increase the psi. Maybe to 35-37? Depending how heavy the trailer is.

Had a friend who introduced me to 4runner/tacoma community and he always ran 45psi cause the tires can handle it. Lol. Always a stiff ride and his tires wore out in the middle way to quick.

You're fine. I got them from a local shop not a big brand store. I looked on discount tires and tire rack after I ordered these and they didn't have them. Good luck with your search.
