Here are the specs on the two I'm debating between. Prices taken from Tire Rack. Any suggestions? Looking for first hand experience on the ride quality, durability, off road capability, etc between the two. I'm leaning towards the Generals because of the P rating (99% highway driving) and lighter weight.

I have the AT2s in a 315/70/17 and absolutely love them. They have preformed well for me in all types for terrain (rocks, mud, sand) and have impressed me on the road as well as in winter time in the snow and ice. I'd highly recommend them.

Just go with the GG AT2's... The P-rated ride Cadillac compared to heavier load rated tires. The tread is very similar to BFG's.. Do well Off Road, but P-rated won't hold up as well under demanding circumstances as the heavier rated tires.. I had the GG's for a couple of years, got about 45k out of them. I currently have BFG KO2's load C.. Which do ride stiffer, I've had a good bit of balance issues with these KO2's. Both are really quite tires. My suggestion go with the Generals, specially since you drive 99% highway, they'll be a good choice for you, plus save you some $.
BTW, I've ran those exact size and loads you listed as well, so you're getting some pretty dead on feed back.

I don't have experience with the AT2s, but the KO2s blow the KOs out of the water. I've owned both. Haven't had any balance issues with either. Road noise isn't that much more than regular tires. Plus the KO2s have added aggressiveness. You'll see a lot of people say it's the same design, overall it's similar but it's definitely different. The KOs weren't that good in snow, but the KO2s we've found nearly impossible to get us stuck with. Good life in them too. I'd say they're more of an on road tire but they do work great offroad if you do venture into the dirt some.

I have KOs and your right not that good in snow they are decent tho snows not the huge issue for me if my 4wd is working and that's a big if lately sometimes it does sometimes it don't I'm working on it tho

My 4wd wasn't working yesterday and I got stuck on ice going up hill
Only because I was at a stop sign and I was a few cars back I got stuck on the ice patch and once I tried to get moving tires just kept spinning and I felt like an asshole because I was backing up traffic and had to wave people to go around me I had to back up and get a running start at the hill

Than I got stuck on flat ground on a ice parking lot trying to turn around again the tires just kept spinning my trucks Manuel as well so in one spot I got up to 4th gear before I got moving again , again this truck makes me look like an asshole

I wanna buy either Bfg ko2 or the general at/2

Depending on witch is better on ice in 2wd

Shit I think you should put money into the 4x4 before you put money into new tires

It's 1st gen stuggels I should of said at the beginning the new tires will be for my 2007 once I get a engine into it

Once my 2nd gen is on the road I'll probably drive my 1st gen right to the dump to get crushed

Nooo if I can't have it nobody can LoL

No im not gonna really crush it I'll probably drive it till it dies witch I think it's not gonna last much longer the frame is really bad on it I don't think it's gonna pass the next safety at the end of this month if it does I'll be really surprised I don't want to spend any more money on it if they won't safety it due to the frame if they pass it sure I'll fix it

To the 4wd not working I think it's just the 4wd actuator is has a bad connection or the seal is wet the day it wasn't working it was -30 and today it was +7 and it was working today

Couple of notes. The AT2 in P rating has 16/32 of tread depth, that is actually more than the BFG at 15/32. Second the design of the AT2 is more open where as the BFG's are C-shaped, hence they have been prone to hydro-planning more than the GG AT2. I have always thought the BFG's were over rated and over priced, the AT2 is most likely my next tire (or the Cooper AT3). Between these two I would save money and go with the AT2 as it is equal or a better tire.

I wouldnt buy my Grabber AT2s again.

They are 295/75/16 on 16X7 OEM wheels. My problem is they have been a bear to keep properly balanced. Granted, heavy-ish (D rated) squeezed onto 7" wheels (barely even a squeeze) on a lightly sprung FJ...maybe I had it coming. Still not thrilled about it.

They do wear well and seem to work decently in most I have thrown at them. Been on for just over 2 years now.

I did once have 265/70/17 Grabber AT2s on right after I bought it. I think they were P-metric. They seemed just fine. I only ran them maybe 6K miles though so I cant comment on much

Id look into Duratracs or, even at that size, those Duratrac look-a-likes at Walmart. I forget what they call those.

Best tire Ive run are the Yokohama Geolandar AT-S. Work well EVERYWHERE. Also look nice...they have a very square profile that makes them look larger than they are.

I have 25k on my KO2's and they have been very good tires. I've had no problems with hydroplaning and I have a decent highway commute. I just ordered rims/tires that I will run most of the year and will keep the bfg's as a winter set. I have had to have them rebalanced twice, which is my only complaint.

Ko2s are great tires but I've learned recently that they tend to suck petty bad in mud, maybe it's because the tread is tighter compared to others but they seem to cake up easily.

My 2 cents on the KO2s...I've run a few other tires on my Tacoma and 4Runner, and nothing seems a tough as the KO2s. I get more miles and less flats than any other A/T I've run (Coopers, Goodyears, Michelins). The Coopers seemed to pick up nails wherever I went, and the Goodyears and Michelins were sliced open a few times on sharp rocks in AZ when I lived there. Never had either of those problems with the BFGs, like I said-just tougher even if they are more expensive and/or less capable.

Yeah, that's the Cooper model I was running on my 4Runner referenced above. I was happy with the performance on pavement and light trails, but I think I had 4 flats due to nails in the first month and ended up trading them for Michelin LTX A/T2s.

i'm not trying to talk you out of anything. That was just my experience. You might look at the Hankook RF10s. It's very similar to the Coopers and around the same price. My cousin ran them on his 1st gen and loved them.

I have the GG AT2s on one of my vehicles and I would buy them again. I think they will go on my Tacoma in the future. They are a smooth P-rated ride and cheaper that the KO2s. I am facing reality that my truck does almost no off roaming so I don't need the KO2 sidewalks. The treads are almost identical on visual comparison. Just my opinion.

We use our truck in the oil field so it see mud but also sees a lot of highway. We are running the hankook ATM now but I was wanting to try something different the on the next set
