    Hey all,

My windshield washer pump recently stopped releasing washer fluid; no sound made when activated. I am assuming it's either a blown fuse or bad pump. I checked the fuse today and it's good.

My issue is that the pumps for the Gen 3 seem to have skyrocketed in price. Autozone and Advance Auto Parts in my area (Phoenix, AZ) do not carry it. Called a local Toyota dealer and they quoted me $150 for the part and $140 for labor, ha. No thanks. You can find the Gen 2 part for about $25.

It's ridiculous that the part is already bad after only 2 years owning the truck. Add to that it's not covered under the warranty they tell me. Anyone had to replace this part on their Gen 3? Online through the same dealer (Right Toyota) I found it for $106. Thanks in advance

Not covered under warranty? Maybe try a different dealer? I looked at the warranty, unless you have more than 36,000 miles, or it was damaged externally, it should be covered. I would dispute that.

Well, then, that will do it. Maybe try a salvage yard? There have probably been a few wrecks of newer trucks.

Check to make sure you have power and ground at the pump before doing anything expensive. It might just be a connectio that wasn't installed all the way at the factory and wiggled off or corrosion on a pin.

That looks like it needs fiberglass fenders and solid axles, maybe an ls.

I've used some really nice butt splices that have solder and heat shrink in them and you just use a heat gun on them. I personally like solder, I usually don't have to worty about resistance in the circuit a few years down the line.

I would try to strike a deal with the stealership. Yes, it's technically out of warranty but just barely- and obviously a part that should be good "forever". That should not be failing, and sure as hell should not be failing at 37K miles. I am not saying to go in there and make demands, but actual good customer service would cover that- especially since it's a very low cost item for them. Subaru replaced my radiator once out of warranty for that same reason.

@D Soulman - I sent an email to the Service Director at my dealership asking if they'd consider doing this fix as a warranty item. I agree with you completely. My 2006 Tacoma has zero issues in 10 years. Way too early for this to be going out.

@MoneyMan55 - Thanks for the link. That price is palatable.

Sent an email to the service director at the dealership I bought the truck from, and they got back to me saying they'd cover it for free as a good will. Thanks everyone for your responses.

Silly phone automatic capitalization. I'm sure the Marines have fabulous heat shrink tubing as well though.
