So this has probably answered before but I can only find limited info on it. So my 2015 nav radio has started rebooting again after a year of working great (have done the update). Will come on to the nav screen but shows no audio for a few minutes then reboots. Local yards only have 2016 and up radios, now according to the pin outs and looking at the back of them they appear to work with my truck. Now my big question is do I have to modify the original face plate to make it fit or will it fit in with no problem.
Aftermarket radio is out of the question for me at this time.
    Thanks

Confirm the steering wheel controls. Somewhere 2014-2015 Toyota made the jump from analog to digital. It looked model and tech package dependent (to me). YMMV

Probably not worth it… some 2014/15 head units pop up in great shape on the 2nd gen for sale thread here. There’s probably some good ones on eBay too

Somebody did it into a 2012 from what I gather, but there was not really much info about it.FC8795AA-70B5-4576-8B2E-C246D6E800BF.jpg

So can anybody measure the complete face of their radio, length and width. I have found a 510103 nav radio out of a 2018 for $300 at a wrecking yard but before they ship it to me I need to confirm that the bezel in my truck will accept it or am I going to have to find an aftermarket bezel for it.
Thanks for all the reply’s so far.

An aftermarket bezel is like $25 so don’t let that scare you too much

Not really scared at that, am in the great white north and they run over
$60 cdn up here. Just want to get it all together so I can do the install all at once. The rebooting is driving me crazy as the radio will not shut off due to it. Had to resort to pulling the radio fuse.

    Ahh makes sense.

if you didn’t see it, here is the thread from that pic earlier. It’s a JBL so not sure how the process differs

Yes I saw both posts when I was doing my search but their bezel are from the 2012 or later and they changed to a bigger radio in the 2014-2015 year, I knew that the radio hookups were all the same up till 2019 and after that they changed. But most of the radios I have found in wrecking yard sites just have numbers attached that correspond to the model numbers but nothing on the screen size. Further searches on the net just show people and reconditioning places with them for sale but no screen size. Even Toyota parts doesn’t show what size screen they are. Local dealer is a joke as the parts guys don’t know as they just go by the part number same as the online search. Nobody has new or used trucks for sale here and the few I have found are in private hands and I don’t think they are just going to let me take some radio measurement. So I guess I will just bite the bullet and order the radio from the wrecking yard, wait till it comes in then go from there. I will post when I get it installed and any problems that I encountered plus going to strip apart the old radio to see if there is some cold solder joint in it causing the problem.
    Thanks all

So pulled the trigger for the 2018 wrecking yard radio, good price 300 beans other places wanted 550, other than the spilled soda all over the face ( suspect from the crash) it cleaned up nicely. Have verified that it plugs in and works correctly with all the controls, now the bad, the face of it is 9.2 across other is 7.2 and it is about 1/2 inch taller than the opening. To make it work I would need a bezel much like the joying units where they sit on it and not the bezel sitting over the radio. Found an odd one on alie express but it looks too fragile.
Going to look through the local wrecking yards to see if they have an original bezel I can get to experiment on, not cutting up the good one. Took the original radio apart and found the main board was a mass of corrosion hence why it was rebooting all the time. Not sure where this came from as the radio was replaced by the dealer after the first year due to failure unless it was a refurbished unit supplied by Toyota. Bummer!

So, did you ever get this figured out and installed. Got any pics. I'd be curious to see. I'm planning to do the same thing. Picked up a 2019 stereo for $85.

So the radio has all the same connections as the early units and accepts the early mounts and works exceptionally well with no problems. The main problem is the radio surround, my 2015 radio measurement is 7 1/4 across, the new one is 9 1/4 plus it’s about 1/2 inch taller. As I didn’t want to hack up the original plate I found one for an awsafe 9 inch off Amazon for cheap but it took a month to get here. Well you get what you pay for, very flimsy and it only has the 3 mounting pins on top nothing on the bottom plus the space for the emergency flasher module looks like you have to screw it in and mine snaps into a socket so I don’t think this was made for a 15. You can also find them on the Chinese alibabba site for around $15 so if going this route I would get a couple in case you mess up the first one. I used a dremel to trim out the interior of the plate and am at that point now, I have it sitting not too bad but it is not flush with the plate. I need to find a good day to take the old unit out and install the new one then try to see where the faceplate will sit and where I have to grind it more. Have seen a few posts where the user took the original plate and hacked it up but I doesn’t look right. As soon as I get this thing installed I will post some pics.

Hey City Taco, I couldn't find the Awsafe 9" on Amazon but found some on eBay. Are these the ones you are using?

Thanks for all the info. I have a 2012 Tacoma with the stock stereo, Model #: 86120-04270. It is non-JBL, non-Nav with Sirius XM. The newish stereo I picked up is an Entune 2.0 Premium non-JBL, with Nav, Model #:86100-04163, from a 2019.

I quickly read through a couple of the threads I found on here and saw this:

I should have read more closely; he used the brackets off a 2012, his was a '14. I pulled my stereo today and not gonna be as plug and play as I hoped. Turns out 2013-2019 have the same connectors, 2012 is way different. Oh well, gonna give it a go anyway. Found a very helpful thread: I am going to post my install when it's complete. I'll probably be back here with more questions before that's through.

    Cheers.

Kiwinni yes that is the one I tried but when I went to install it in the truck it didn’t work as these plates sit up higher so where it clips into the dash with it attached to the radio it sits down about 1/2 an inch. I tried taking the four dash screws off to push it up but the main body of the radio hits the top of the dash.
Oh well $20 down the tubes, I stopped off at a junk yard and got one out of a wreck for $30 and am going to try that.
Nudavinci64 should work unless you have a JBL already and installing a non JBL or vice versa then the audio wouldn’t work. Does your steering wheel control work and backup camera? Had this problem when I went to put the old radio back in and missed a connection on the back of the radio.

So a little update, while the radio works fine in the truck the mounting is way off due to the size of the radio. I took a set of original mounting brackets and cut the top mounting tangs off the the made three of the mounting holes into slots to be able to move the radio up in the dash, I also had to grind off the little dimples on the mounts to allow the radio to move. There is not a lot of upper space in the main dash to move it up much. Going to try this weekend if it gets a little warmer up here in the great white north. The radio is a 510103 and from what I find now is the largest one that Toyota made for their vehicles, their parts listing also show a couple more from 2017-2019 but nothing on the screen sizes but I suspect one is a plain radio and the other is a JBL. I’ll keep picking at this and as I make progress will let you know.
It only thinks it’s going to win.
