Hi all, sorry for what is probably a noob question but here goes. I just got my Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 from Amazon. I also ordered the Dongar Tech 12-pin adaptor to power from the mirror (had to order direct from Dongar as Amazon was out of stock with no ETA), and that should be here this afternoon. I double-checked to make sure that I had the connector on the back of the mirror which I do, but this morning I started thinking. I have the advance tech package which includes the HomeLink garage door opener on the mirror. I can press the button and open the garage door even if the truck is completely off. Does that mean that the plug I will be plugging the Dongar adaptor in to is powered all the time? I would prefer that the camera only powers on when the truck is running, which is what I thought using the Dongar adaptor would do. Anyone who might know I would appreciate your chiming in. Thanks! :)

Your logic makes sense but it does not run all the time with the homelink mirror. I have to turn the truck on to adjust my viewing angle when using the phone app. Garmin does have a add on always on cable that can change this though.

Thank you sir. Appreciate your confirming that the HomeLink mirror will only power the dash cam when the truck is turned on :)

Can confirm as well (I'm using the mirror USB tap for my Mini). Plozoc has a micro USB power adapter that you can run off an add-a-fuse to an always-on circuit at the fuse box. It also has low voltage protection that will cut the camera off if batt voltage drops too low (like if the truck has to sit unusued for a long time). Natch, not as clean as you'll have to run the wiring up the A-pillar and across the headliner to the cam.
