I was researching Tacoma tailgate panels that are flat and stumbled across this company called Gar-Fab that makes a nice looking flat tailgate planet insert, but I haven’t been able to find any reviews. Has anyone here bought it, and had some time with it? Please let me know your review!

I haven’t personally bought one but know people who have and they can’t complain, but I’m pretty sure there’s another company out there that makes one with more functionality built into it

Looks like some other people have experience with this product. Easier for me to just link to the search than parrot what they said:

Random thought: As I see OP is a Canadian, what is the correct unit to measure poutine in? Bowls? Baskets? Boats? For example if I sad "how many bowls of poutine would this tailgate cover hold?" is that the incorrect unit of measure usage?

Thanks for the replies! As for poutine, us Canadians measure in bowls for sure, I hope this tailgate cover holds many bowls of poutine

I’ve had the Gar-Fab tailgate panel for a year or more now and can only say great things about it. I use my truck daily, mostly for work and the panel has held up wonderfully. The plastic material is very strong and doesn’t bow under weight and with a quick wipe looks brand new again (there are a few small starches from heavier items that had sharp edges). Having the flat work surface has been amazing. For cons, it may have added a bit of weight to the tailgate but I’ve never really thought about it until now. Happy to answer any questions you many have.

Thank you lightandgears, that’s really helpful! A good friend of mine and myself have put an order in, and am looking forward to it

I opted for metal because it's cheaper, stronger, and wraps around the top for protection

You are very welcome. I took a photo today, just gave it a wipe with a rag to get the day to day dust off it. Hope its helps.

It looks really good, no different wear to the rest of the bed really. Appreciate the photo! Is it the same or similar material to the rest of the bed do you think?

It's a bit different from the plastic used for the rest of the bed. I think its high density polyethylene? Somewhat similar to a commercial plastic cutting board but with a different textured finish.
