Need help with ditch lights. I recently installed some Rigid Industries D series midnight edition ditch lights to my 17 Taco. I continuously blow fuses as soon as I flip the switch to turn them in. I've attached the ground wire and the power wire to different spots multiple times and have tried higher powered fuses than the 15 that they provide and I have no wires exposed. Any ideas on what might be wrong? Should I just buy the cigarette lighter wire for power that has the switch on it from rigid?

Pretty hard to diagnose without actually seeing it. Was it a kit that you bought or just the pods?

If it was just the pods, how do you have them wired? Straight from the battery with a switch in-line or with a relay?

Pictures of the wiring would be helpful.

It was a kit that I bought from a shop here in Reno called Custom Truck Accessories. They sell a kit that includes the pods and wires and a switch. The brackets were the only things not included

I'd take it back, or at least demand they look at it.

If it was meant to be plug and play, and it doesn't work, then it doesn't work.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I just don't want them to charge me for simply. Seeing what's wrong.

What amperage was the fuse? Did the kit include a relay? Edit - I see 15A fuse, that should warrant the use of a relay since switches generally go up to 3A or so. Still, blown fuses mean current draw is way more than it should be so there's a short somewhere in the kit on the + side.
Look for discolored wire ends or arc damage, a 15A arc will leave traces.

Could the ground wire (-12v) and the hot wire (+12v) possibly be swapped? If the +12v wire was connected to the case of the lights and that was grounded to the truck, the fuses would blow immediately when the switch was turned on.

lol, demand? how about just ask nicely lol

start looking at your wiring. something is wrong. start with the lights. hook each light up to the battery to see if it works. then work your way back.

I like this approach. Keep it simple stupid. That's what I was taught at my mechanics school
