    Hi all,

Has anyone come across a bed rack that will allow a Diamondback cover to still open at the front and/or back? Any rack that is designed to function with a Diamondback all mount to the top of the cover and prevent the cover from opening the moment there is something spanning the length of the rack, like a RTT or awning. Any generic bed rack bracket meant to work with a cover also has that same issue as they wrap around the cover and basically clamp it down from the top.

It seems like some of the Softopper compatible racks might work due to the extended feet they have coming off of the bedside to clear the Softopper frame.
I've found the Uptop Truss rack (https://www.uptopoverland.com/colle...cts/truss-tacoma-soft-top-compatible-bed-rack) that looked like it might work like I hope for at first, but it looks like the center post foot will interfere with the clamps that hold the center panel of the DB in place.

I've also noticed the Max Modular(https://www.max-modular.com/toyota-tacoma-years-2005-to-present-11/topper-max-bed-rack) that looks like it would be the best choice as there is no center post to interfere with with the center panel, but couldn't find the width at the base to ensure the base of the legs won't interfere with the cover when closed.

If anyone knows of any other rack that might fit my requirements, please let me know!

While the Diamondback Truss rack does allow the panels to hinge open as the front and back rack are independent of each other, once a tent is mount to the rack it prevents either panel from opening as the rack sitting directly on the cover.
Additionally I did "cheap" out and went with the SE instead of HD when I bought my cover, so the DB Truss Rack would require drilling.

The current plan is just to support a roof top tent on the bed rack so if I err on the high side ~150lb dynamic, and with the fiancée, dog, and me an extra 450lb static. Do you happen to know of any racks that can have the width adjusted if I were to get a custom foot fabricated?

Any bed rack that forms a trapezoidal base would hit the diamondback cover when it opens.

Your best bet would be to fabricate your own bed rack.

Yakima Overhaul is definitely variable width and capable of holding an RTT. Looks like there’s at least one other system called ADARAC that’s adjustable and designed for offroad/overland use. Probably others out there. Would definitely look for something with less inward lean so your DB has clearance to fully open.

This rack will allow you to fully open a DB cover: https://www.max-modular.com/toyota-tacoma-years-2005-to-present-11/utility-rack-for-tonneau-covers

To flip open the cover, you would need it set at it's highest level anyway.

For reference your cab is about 22" high, so at the highest setting, the URTC is just a little higher.

Take a look at https://gettrukd.com/. Saw these racks at the Southeast Adventure Vehicle Expo and offer Diamondback cover functionality while a rooftop tent is mounted. They have 6”, 12”, 18”, and 24” risers. I believe 18” and 24” offer full opening of cover and the other limited opening. I don’t own one yet, but as of now is my top choice with a Diamondback cover.

I have the Front Runner racks on my Diamondback. My RTT sits in the back, so that I can still open the front. Of course, when the RTT is not on the racks, which usually it's not, I can then open the back.
