Hello bass heads! Looking to put badass sound system in my 2020 Tacoma double cab. My budget is around $3-$4k. I’m wondering what components work well in this truck? I’m going to be getting the LCq-1 to fix the factory roll off because I want to keep my 2020 head unit. Thinking about putting 2 JL 10w3s, is anybody else running these subs and do they blow the doors off the Tacoma? If so what other amps and door speakers are you running that work well with the double cab? Will be upgrading the alternator battery and installing a capacitor. Thanks in advance for any advice. Happy taco Tuesday.

There is no real factory roll off on these trucks. Here I measured the output from the stock radio going from volume 10-40.

As for what to put in the truck, check out the audio subforum. I put in 3 way front component systems running full active with 10 channel dsps for full time aligned audio. 3 amps running 9 channels total (each speaker gets its own channel)

If you want great quality sound, look into OEM Audio+

4K for a sound system ... DAM!!! I don’t think you need that much for a sound system .

You would be surprised what people pay for sound systems
    Mine:
    JBL stadium 6x9 components - $300
    JBL gto20 mids - $150
JBL club rear speaker - $60
    JBL slim 10 - $100
    Audiocontrol dsp810 - $800
    Audiocontrol acm 4.300 - $300
    Audiocontrol acm 4.300 - $300
    Audiocontrol acm 1.300 - $300
    Joying headunit - $320
    Bluesea fuseblock - $100
    Bluesea breaker - $60
    wireing - $200
    RCA cables - $140
    misc adapters - $100
    Sound deadener - $200

roughly around $3430 give or take a few hundred. If I were to of paid a shop to install I would of ended up adding another $1k on top of that.

But yes, 4k is a ton of money to spend on audio when spending 1k will do just fine.

I spent 2300 on OEM Audio+ and it was worth every penny. Has perfect highs, mediums, and lows. And if I want I can turn up the bass to give myself a back massage

Get a nice 5 channel amp that puts out at least 100watt rms per door speaker

I do like the oem audio + system. I almost got that first, but decided to piece together my own.

Thats what first caught my attention with the oem audio system. I liked the plug and play, I liked that was already tuned. But as I got more into reading on these trucks I noticed there was a lack of 3 way component systems, and android radios. So I made it my task to start something that had not really been done with these trucks. Now I have a like 40 page thread on my audio system with tons of info on android radios for these trucks.

Sorry but oem is not what I’m looking for. And no on the jl stealth box either. I’m going to be getting a custom dual box made for the rear seats to house 2 JL 10W3v3s. Either by mr.Marv or a local shop. Still want to install the LCq-1 for the EQ. Just want to know what two way speakers and amps some of you have in your (expensive) sound systems to know what sounds good in these trucks.

If you’re willing to drop $3-4k, ditch the lcq-1

    if I’m building a system, I’m going

    AudioControl D-6.1200 $1100
    AudioControl LC-1.800 $450
    JL 10W3v3s x2 $600
    Morel tempo ultra 692 $440
Morel tempo ultra integra 602 $300

    -$2890-

then you’ll spend the rest on

    0awg dual amp power kit
    Speaker wire and speedwire
    Brackets/mounting
    Fast rings
    Lots of sound deadening material
Some ABS to build an amp rack
    The box from MrMarv

You can also look at AudioFrog, hertz, audison, focal, or higher end morel. All are good options, depending on your ear. Either way, you have $750-$1000 in the budget for all speakers. I’ve budgeted for active front components and rear coaxials, but you could also ditch the rears and go 3-way active up front for similar dollars. Or drop down to the D-4.800 instead of the D-6.1200 and go 2-way active up front and no rears. This would allow some room in the budget for higher end front drivers.

Thank you guys really appreciate the feedback! I’ll look into everything you both mentioned. And will update you once I am finished, any other suggestions from others are still welcome :)
