Hey My 1st Gen Tacoma Brothers and Sisters,

My buddy Sean and I have another video for you. If for whatever reason you needed to drop your fuel tank, this video can help you out. Your rigs are a little different than our 3rd Gen 4runners but a lot of the steps will be the same. To disconnect the fuel pump, you'll have to do that from under your truck. There might be other differences too but that's the one I know for sure because the Tacoma doesn't have an access hatch like we have on the 4runners.

Here's the video and Enjoy the Show!

Awesome. Just was about to do this on my 5-lug.

I hear it's easier to take the bed off than drop the gas tank on our trucks.

That might be the case. I wonder how much that bed weighs though. I guess two dudes with average muscle mass can lift that sucker off. Lift with your legs and not your back. Once you screw up your back, you'll be reminded everyday that you should have protected it better.

I imagine setting up some saw horses to place it onto would be smart. Lowering the bed to the ground is just more of a chance to hurt your spine. With it on the saw horses, you won't have to do a deep squat to get up to waist height to carry it back into position.

People have just jacked up the bed without taking it off the frame, I think that's all it takes.

Ahhh, YOU'RE Timmy the toolman! Very cool. Your CV axle boot slide mod helped me out when I rebuilt my axles. Thanks man.

I guess people doing that are using a high lift jack and cribbing to hold it up high enough then. That fuel bracket assembly is pretty long. You'd have to have the truck bed up pretty damn high to get that assembly out. You also need room to twist the whole assembly coming out and going back in and those metal lines are long. I sort of think moving the bed off the truck would be the best method.

I've seen people do it easily with two people. What's hard is moving it over the fuel neck.

Just curious, you ever consider buying a Tacoma?

I considered buying one but now I own (2) 3rd Gen 4runners. Asking prices for 3rd Gen 4runners where we live are ridiculous. Asking prices for 1st Gen Tacomas are F*cking Ridiculous. I still can't believe how much people are asking and I wonder if people are actually paying this much. I think my involvement for the near future will stay as a 4runner owner.

I can't remember, did you make it to our last get-together? We're going to start planning another one soon.

The bed is light. 2 guy job with a young son to steady it form tipping. Just took mine off to remove rust flake, POR15 coat frame and put on new leaf springs. It is very easy to remove and makes everything easier on the back of the truck.

    Reserected from the dead.
You don't have to remove the bed entirely. Just unbolt and lift the front part up and prop it with some blocks.
