So I was cleaning under the hood and noticed a loose vacuum line. It connects the back of my stock intake to this silver breather, valve, or whatever it is. Where the hose connects to the intake had been snapped off and it looks like whoever owned it before me super glued it back on. So the nipple is in the hose and doesn’t allow an air flow. What is this and is that a problem? I’ve thrown a cheap intake on that’s been laying in my shed for years that has the proper connection until I sort this out... but that means my snorkel can’t be hooked up. Thanks

Appears to be a fuel regulator I guess

That's a fuel press. regulator. Typically they are hooked to the actual intake not the part pre-throttle body. I'll look on mine today and see where it's hooked to.

In OEM form, the vacuum hose goes from the intake, pre-throttle body, to that FPR port.

If that hose is dangling, and is routed post MAF sensor, then that is a vacuum leak.

Cannot remember if it is pre MAF or post. Pretty sure it is post.

ITs before MAF. I bought a stock intake off a member and apparently they snapped the nipple off The intake and glued it back on. The glue was blocking the nipple and inside the intake so that line has been blocked since I installed it. I drilled a hole where it was originally and pressure fitted the nipple back to the intake, then sealed around the nipple. The truck is totally different. Way better throttle response, better fuel mileage, and feels like it is running better.

Back of the stock intake where the nipple was snapped off and you can see the hole is occluded by the dried glue.

My temporary fix. I made the hole tight enough that it’s holding the nipple in place, sealed around it, and tested for airflow. It’ll work until I get a new stock intake. I have a cold air intake that came with the truck but it looks like something generic from auto zone and I need the stock one to run my snorkel.

Yeah... I wondered why the truck felt anemic compared to my lifted prerunner I used to have. Now it feels right.

In your experience, does the stock intake give the lowest intake temps? With my snorkel attached the heat soak through the metal intake pipe is awful when I’m in traffic. Like 120+ degree intake temp on a 90 degree day. I even wrapped it in heat tape and didn’t help much

That’s a good idea. Id just have to remove the charcoal filter or get one of my kids with their tiny bendy arms to push it through from the inside of the intake

Ahhh yes, forgot bout the charcoal filter. Hmm... id be ok with drilling a hole and threading a brass NPT barb in the plastic secured with a little epoxy so it doesnt unthread itself.

something like this, drill a hole just big nuff for the tip of the tapered threads to fit, start to thread it in just nuff so it bites, throw some expoxy on the exposed threads and then run it all the way in.
