I hear what sounds like a fuel pump running (from the rear of the truck) I park it in the garage and it usually happens late at night but eventually turns off. This doesn't seem right, does it?

    2018 trd or

    Thanks - Gary

Is normal but still doesn't seem right. the truck turned off in the middle of the night just starts doing things on it's own! plus something involving gasoline!! many times i have gone in my garage late at night and there it is clicking away on it's own.

Yep, every new vehicle does this. I don't like going into my garage at night and hearing strange noises either.

Don't stare at it while it is doing its thing. Makes things awkward.

Yup, this just got me. Putting in new Tonneau cover clamps, and heard a buzzing. Thought was neighbor till daughter said my fuel tank was buzzing (inside the bed with tonneau cover on, couldnt tell where it was coming from). So, started truck which started fine and then the sound stopped when turned it off. Ty Tacoma World Search for solving the mysterious sound. Haha

I know this thread is a little old, but I just found it and need to comment. My Tacoma is a 2018 TRD Sport 4-door. I read the document someone posted here, thanks for that, and the it says that the fuel pump runs for a "few minutes" after the engine is turned off for 5 hours. We'll, once my fuel pump turns, it doesn't turn off. The only way to get it to turn off is to either turn the ignition on and off, or just start the truck normally and drive. My fuel pump does not turn on "consistently' every time the engine has been off for 5 hours rather, it is very random that the fuel pump runs any time the engine is off. In fact, I've owned the truck since new and only noticed this twice. Also only noticed it after getting the fuel pump replacement due to the recall. I'll probably take it back to the dealership to see what's up - this is so not normal and very concerning
