Fuel pump relay location?

Where is the fuel pump relay on 2002 Tacoma prerunner extended cad

What engine?

They usually go through the EFI relay to the Circuit Opening Relay then to the fuel pump.

Anyways, it’s likely the Circuit Opening Relay you’re looking for.

 

i'm going to add in a relay when i swap my fuel pump. according to gadget, the fuel pump sees less than 12v. I'll rewire it so it will get full battery power.

 

Toyota calls it the Circuit Opening Relay, it is located under the steering column on 1st gen trucks.

There's no fuel pump resistor on 1st gen Tacoma's, it gets full battery power anytime it's on.
2nd gen Tacoma's have a 2 speed fuel pump that uses a resistor for low speed.

 

i never said there is a resistor but the long run and various connections there is a significant voltage drop (verified by gadget) so it does NOT get full voltage.
can't find the data right now but it doesn't hurt to rewire the pump.

Why add another relay you all ready have 2 relays.

Unless of course your making a completely new circuit by passing all factory fuel pump circuit using a switch to turn the pump on and off via a relay . Don`t forget circuit protection and a light when the pump is energized I have fixed quite a few that left the pump on all night and drained the battery.
