Hi everyone I'm really frustrated about this. I just got my new Fuel Krank Wheels mounted about 2 weeks ago and one of them came chipped but I got over it because it wasn't too noticeable. The others were all flawless. But now 2 weeks later and two other wheels are chipped badly, and the one that was originally chipped out of the box has even more chips now. Those 3 three wheels now all have about 3-4 chips each. And when I say chipped, I mean there's seriously a reasonably sized chunk of aluminum missing from the wheel, not just a paint chip. The one you see in the first picture is about the size of a 1/4 of a penny, and It's definitely noticeable. I don't drive on any rocky roads and I'm wondering how this happened. I mean sure Alaska has a lot of gravel on the roads in winter because of traction but I doubt that would cause this because that's just traction sand they put down. It's also weird how all the chips are located on the same silver area on all 3.

Why do you think this happened and only in these specific areas? Should I try contacting fuel, or am I most likely at fault for some reason? Please help!

I'm pissed. Paid good money for these. Is the problem that I bought fuel wheels?

Not sure where you bought them but if it was local I would go back and show them what has happened. I had a blemish on my Fuel Mavericks about 1 week after they were mounted and Discount Tire replaced it no problem.

    Good Luck

Man I would be pissed...but I'm picky when it comes to stuff like this! You spent a lot of money on the wheels and you would expect them to hold up better than that. Once a chip or scratch happens...it will continue to get worse from that point on. I just bought a set of 4 Pro Comp wheels and BFG tires from Discount Tire last week and one of the Pro Comp wheels had a few very small scuffs, but to the point where the black was off and the aluminum was showing....what did I do? I called Discount and they immediately shipped me a new wheel no questions asked. The reason I just didn't say "oh well" and just keep it is because like I said....once the paint chips or is scuffed off in any area it will continue to get worse from that point on and continue to chip away over time.

There should be at least a 1 year finish warranty on the wheel. I manage an Auto Parts Store/Speed and Offroad Shop and I always take care of a customer if this happens. But then again, you bought them online from. Car id. They might not care or tell you to go kick rocks. Good luck man!

I've had Fuel Kranks for 2 years now. I ordered them and one of the four showed up chipped. They swapped out it without any problems. Haven't had problems since. Hopefully they can take care of you.

That's really good service right there. Discount tire sounds pretty great from what I hear. Did you have to send the other one back first? I would hate it if I had to go without a wheel on my truck until I got replacements, or in my case 3 wheels lol. That thing would be sitting in the shop for a few weeks.

Hopefully they'll make it right! I had to order them online because there's almost no where in Alaska that actually has what you want in stock. It sucks. You have to order everything and then pay outrageous shipping. I hope they don't say they can't do anything. You'd think with how much they make that they could spare $600 for once to give someone new wheels to replace chipped ones lol

Wish I could buy stuff in person more often! :frusty:

Did you order yours online? Or from a store in person? I could've ordered mine in person and had them shipped to the store but then again they charged even more for shipping at the store than they did online.

Very true haha, unless they ask for pictures or some other proof, either way, still seems easy to exploit.

I sent a warranty claim to Car iD today so I'm awaiting a reply. I'll keep you all updated in case you're interested.

I ordered them from my local Americas Tire Company. They were shipped to the store. The store noticed one of them had a chip in it, so they ordered me a new one. They went ahead and mounted the chipped one anyway and swapped it out when the new one came in. No problems since.

No...they offered me either a full refund for the wheel minus the shipping cost OR send me a brand new wheel immediately (no questions asked) AND they provided me with a return shipping label for the old one. Discount Tire seems to take a lot of pride with their customer service....it's second to none! BEST online customer service I think I've ever had.

I emailed Car iD on Friday and I'm still awaiting a reply. I have class everyday until 2 and by the time I'm done their call customer service is closed. The struggle of being in Alaska. I should get a reply by tomorrow though.

Good luck!! I feel your pain, living in Alaska definitely has its challenges. Hopefully Car ID takes care of your rim issues.

I received my replacement rim from UPS on Tuesday and come to find out, that one is chipped too! I called Discount Tire that day and they had another replacement rim (3rd time) shipped out the SAME DAY and provided me with a second return shipping label for the 2nd chipped rim. Like I said, Discount Tire has been a pleasure dealing with and their customer service is the BEST I've ever encountered when buying from online! Highly recommend them!

Well looks like someone is getting screwed by Car iD. I finally got a reply today after waiting a whole week compared to the 1-2 business days in which they claimed it would take to get a reply. I sent the warranty request on last Friday and just got a response around noon today telling me that because they were mounted that they can't help me. In my opinion that's total bs, what kind of warranty is that? It's pretty much saying that "oh if you use the product as intended and something is found to be wrong then there's nothing we can do to help you". Never buying from them again. Crappy customer service and bs policies. Screw you CariD. Guess I'll be buying 3 new wheels in the future, and they definitely WONT be from CariD. I'll probably use one of the chipped ones for a spare once I get another tire. But having my wheels chipped like that drives me insane. Obviously just anyone looking as a passerby can't notice it but you get within 5 feet and you can definitely tell if you look at the wheels for a few seconds.

Wow that suck. I have been looking at those wheels & even priced them with Carid. That's crappy business & they probably won't get my time or money. Thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds like discount has them beat, hands down.

I would go over carid's heads and call Fuel, and make sure you post very clean clear pictures of the damage/defect. I cant discern in your pics (need closer up, and better lighting, less glare) if they look like a defect or a damage case.

If fuel won't help you get this resolved, If the material casting is falling apart I would be afraid of them on my vehicle. Bad wheels kill people, and have been the subject of serious law suits. It would be in their best interest not to even go there And replace your defective product. That mounting policy will not hold water in court... long as they were done at a ASE shop

Yeah I'm really pissed. I don't really know what to do other than maybe buy new wheels in the future. I'm thinking either Method Race wheels or Black Rhino. Definitely never buying anything from Car iD again.
