Truck only has 162k on it. Dealer quoted me 220$ I think for just one fuel injector (part only not including labor). I see there is some cheap ones online (ebay, Amazon) are they junk? I'm trying to decide if the truck is worth fixing or if I should just get rid of it. Replacing fuel injectors by yourself is a pain in the ass correct?

Ebay and Amazon are hit and miss. If you can verify that the vendor is a dealer or such, then the parts are probably genuine- Otherwise it's a solid roll of the dice. However, you are in good luck, because there is another good source for injectors- MotorWest. They can either service your existing injectors or sell you Denso replacements at a fraction of the cost of the dealer.

Replacing the injectors is not hard if you have the tools and patience. I can't speak to the exact process for a 2.4l but I was able to do my V6 injectors and valve covers in one weekend. Be careful of the seals on the injectors. Some say (the FSM included) to use gas a lube for the seals when inserting them, but the MotorWest injectors come with SuperLube for that purpose, and I had much better luck with the SuperLube than the gas method.

Edit: Do all 4 at the same time.

I don't think it would be that much work on a 3.4L V6, don't know about the 2.7L 4 cylinder. I wouldn't get rid of my Tacoma over it. Also, I have a set of OEM fuel injectors from a 2003 Tacoma for sale if interested for much less than what the dealer sells them for.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
It all comes down to what kind of shape the rest of the truck is in.

If a set of injectors is enough to not repair only you know.

super lube for sure on the install .

Have a 98 and just bought a set of brandnew denso's for around $200 shipped.....
I can do em in about an hour, tough thing is not to get in hurry and leave an o-ring in like I did...sneaky little bastards, and having to do it twice......on a scale 1 to 10 , about a '2' to do.........breaking that banjo bolt on fuel rail is toughest part.....

There's two different versions......so it might be safest to replace all four....
older ones had 27 tiny holes prone to clogging.....pink.

I have no faith in the dealer properly diagnosing anything.

I’m at 340 on my 3RZ and all stock.

The truck would have to be in pretty bad shape for me to scape it over a single injector that can be swapped in an afternoon.

I’d do all four by the way if you’re going to do one.

I'd have to check if they would work on my truck. I'm assuming they are used but still working? If I went that route I'd probably pay you for them and pay you to ship them to motor west to be refurbished and then have them ship them back to me
