    Hi,

My fuel gauge is stuck on full in my 2020 Tacoma and is not moving. I am probably just outside the warranty, which sucks. Only 19,000 Km but just over 36 months. I see some newer Tundra’s are having this issue and thrust is a calibration issue. My distance till empty is counting down but it is showing a lower driving distance when the tank is filled.

I hope it isn’t a sending initial unit as that is costly.

    Any thoughts?

first thing to check is; see if your truck falls under the fuel pump recall. I can't remember the years it spanned, I know my 2019 was cause I had it done.

    Most likely.
some say removing the bed is easier then dropping the tank to get at the sending unit.

    do what @Chew said first

How long has it been like this. My old truck if you had the key on it would stick it on full for a while then return to normal. Didn’t like me filling the tank with the key on engine off. Just a thought

You’re very likely in the fuel pump recall group, I’d look into it. Fuel sensor is on the pump itself and they replace the whole assembly with the recall.

I wish. A heavy duty mechanic friend of mine suggested I disconnect the battery for a hour and see if that resets it.

I searched by VIN and I don’t appear to be. According to my VIN there are no outstanding recalls.

Or is this a hidden recall?

Resetting battery power definitely reset my fuel gauge, I am happy I didn’t go the expensive route of trusting a dealership to solve this. I only disconnected the battery a few minutes.

I had this happen a couple of months ago. I don't drive my truck much and I think that may have been my issue. A bottle of fuel system cleaner did the trick in about 10 minutes of driving.
