    Hey there all
I was looking for some experienced feedback from Taco owners especially who have a levelling kit....wondering how this is actually impacting economy.
I have a 2021 Tacoma Sport Double Cab 6ft box. It has a 2” Truxxx levelling kit, BFG 265/70/17 Load C’s, a Body Armour slim line (80lb) bumper with no winch, very light duty nerf step bars (for the kids), and even left the air dam on. I will mention that I only have 920 kms on it right now but hasn’t gotten better mileage for some time now, floating between 17.5-17.7 litres/ 100kms (~14mpg).

I drive with a VERY light foot however only work 3.2kms from home so my daily drive is very short but do let it warm up for 5-10 min each morning.
I cannot get any better fuel economy than 17.5 litres per 100kms. Factory spec calls for 10.5-13.8L/100kms.
Yes I understand that the modifications all have an impact but really that much?
My buddy had a brand new Taco and only kept it for a year cause the fuel economy on his unmodified Taco was so bad he couldn’t justify the reduction in tow capability, room or length of time between gas station visits.
I love the truck but at this point I am second thinking the ownership of my Taco because I used to get better fuel economy with the same warmup method and trip from my 2005 GMC crew cab with 190,000kms, 6L with a 3” lift, 35” tires and much more room and tow capacity.
At this point I am quickly approaching 1000kms on the truck and will have consumed 3 tanks of fuel which means I am actually only averaging 333kms per tank.
Stealership says “well once you level it and put slightly bigger tire in” but come on really 333kms per tank?

This mileage equates to avg ~14mpg but I see guys on Tacomaworld claiming 19mpg with similar mods.

The mileage I am experiencing to me is insane no?!?
And for those of you who are thinking why not walk this is not an option unfortunately due to time constraints both at start and end of my 12 hour work day with a family of 3 kids and the roads to work are very busy at that time of day, dark at times, and no sidewalks.
Any experienced owners have any positive, value added feedback or suggestions?
Not looking for any wise cracks or sarcasm thanks.
    Thanks all!

Winter blend fuel sucks. I average 18.5-19.2

Sounds like you hail from the North. Warm up kills mileage (kilometerage if you please) and most of your kilos driven it's still probably coming up to temp. Burning gas not moving + poor combustion efficiency + cold oils = probably about mileage you are getting now. I would venture a guess the mods are a smaller part of it. It will never be amazing with mostly short trips, but should improve noticably in summer.

I get about 18 miles per gallon on my Tacoma with the winter blend of gas. Only thing I’ve done to it is put on a soft tonneau cover

ya I thought maybe this was a big impact the short trips and the warmups, using the gas with no kms to show for it
    Thanks

Put an engine block heater in it, don't warm it up that long. It's better to warm them with some load rather than idling anyway.

Short trips are bad for milage too.

do you warm up and what would you say your avg travel distance is?
I think this might be a big part as Gutentight was say’n.

Short trips will kill your mileage, that is your problem. Short trips are also not good for your engine. Also letting your truck warm up for 5-10 mins burns a lot of gas and is bad for your engine as well. It dilutes your oil with gas as your engine is running rich. You need 1 min max to warm up your engine.

I have the same tires as you, no lift and no air dam. I get 13-13.7L per 100km city and anywhere from 10-13.5L per 100km on the highway. My truck sees 5-6k rpms once or twice pretty much every time i drive. 17.5L per 100 is a lot, get a bike maybe?:)

    no doubt on the bike.
My buddy that traded his Taco up for a turbo diesel Dodge killed his turbos from his short trips to work.

    Normal....

DONOT warm up your truck over 30 second , it's just waste your fuel and time.

My daily dtive under 15km, but I always drive over 40km during the weekend, it's helped the mileage.

ok I will try that. I was always under the impression it was better to let the vehicle warm up but clearly not.
    Thanks for that feedback

    Yep.

I honestly would not drive my truck if i only had 3.2km commute. I would feel horrible about the engine.

    Scooter? Beater? Walk?

not quite certain of Ur expectations

commuter like driving for so short a distance will Not provide Good fuel mileage

since many a contrived fuel crisis out of a few decades Most SAE experts decry idling an engine more than a minute

sitting still = NO MPG ! essentially has NO benefit to the engine

currently there are few modifications that will provide a double digit improvement as the factory computer

    programs are strict

Consistent hi-way driving will provide better numbers.........I have achieved 500 miles / tankful

miles driven / gallons used......the dash info is Not accurate

    ( 2020 access cab 4 cylinder 6 speed auto trans Michelin tyres......weighs only 4000lbs )

at mostly Legal Interstate Speeds.........sometimes with more enthusiasm
