So my fuel door hinge was half snapped off. I have purchased a new door and have had it color matched. I broke my latch/clip that holds the door closed, while trying to remove it from the old door. I can't find a part number or anything (even a picture) of it. Does anyone know what I am even talking about? I need a new one. If I go into Toyota parts what do I ask for.

Before even replying about it. I know the popular thing is to put a locking mechanism on there. I don't want to do that quite yet. I just want to be able to put the door back on and have it work like stock.

    Any help/advice would be great.

Maybe. Is it the part that holds the door closed? The one that I broke looked more like small tweezers.

The dealer called it a spring too. On order. Thank you for your help.

I found the part number with a good image off google images for the door clip to post here. Toy does indeed call it a spring so I found the best pic I could locate so one can match the part/number. Most images on diagrams, there are many for several models it fits, all appear to be drawn by a 1st grader at best.
My small latch post this part clips onto snapped off long ago so I replaced it with a sturdy bolt/washer/nut leaving enough of the bolt protruding so this clip snaps onto it and that kept my door latched for yrs until this trusty rusty clip broke, excuse me this "Spring" broke.
I left my bolt in place since it works better than the original post ever did and it will never break/rust apart again. My suggestion is to paint or clear coat the clip/spring before installing if you live were rust develops fast. I have over 340k trouble free miles on my 2005 Tundra so I just tossed mine on, I can't complain about a cheap little part snapping into but it was a booger to locate online calling it a fuel door clip which describes it better imo. Who knew its really a fuel filler spring?..lol My dealers a real greedy p.o.s. so I'd scotch tape it shut each fill up before ever going there for help.
    Hope this helps, thanks guys!
    Peace

Nick929rr did you find out the name of that little plastic post? I'm needing the same thing and cant find it at the local parts store I've went to 3 different ones and got 3 different names which I'm sure its some kind of retaining clip but when I use that I cant even find a pic of it to order.

I could not find it in any parts store. I had to go right to Toyota to get it. The part was only $5. I'll attach a picture of the fuel system I got the part number from.

I appreciate that very much. Hardest piece of plastic I've tried to find.
