Toyota calls the front spoiler an "Air Dam" which probably made it hard to search. Here is a video with the Toyota chief engineer. About a minute in he talks about the Air Dam.

There are threads and posts on this. I would search "air dam" and "front spoiler".

From memory: lots of folks have taken them off. there are plenty of pictures if you search. many people prefer them off, however many keep them on.

    Pros of removal:
    - looks more truckly
    - improves front approach angle

    Cons of removal:
    - reduces MPG efficiency, mostly on highway. Last I checked average was about - 0.75 MPG less is best I estimated.

I think it's a hoot how many posts are MPG whiner oriented around here, yet when Toyota makes a bit of aero that actually works, piles of people want to rip it off.

    So here's a suggestion for a new rule @tcBob.

If someone removes their aero for whatever reason, they are prohibited from complaining about their hwy MPG. :D

Removed mine. Don't care about MPG. If I cared about MPG, I wouldn't have bought a truck.

Took mine off last night as well. The money I may lose in mpg's will be made up for by my bumper not getting torn off when the air deflector catches on to something it shouldn't

I removed mine. makes the trucks front end look significantly better. I was getting a little over 17 MPG before I removed it and I'm getting the same MPG after a week with it off. Maybe I'll lose slight MPG over the long haul, but to me it's totally worth it to enhance the look of the truck.

Anyone considering doing it really just needs to take it off. The howling rear end issue has been addressed for now by plugging the control arm holes. I don't think the missing deflector was the issue anyway. But the potential $60 loss in gas per year shouldn't stress anyone out

Recycle and world would thank you.
Maybe return it back to Toyota so they can make extra factory tonneau covers and not charge arm and a leg for the cover as an option.

I ended up selling mine to some craigslist guy for $50. Made me sad seeing him all excited to put it on his TRDOR... I told him that it probably won't fit with the extra tow hook thingy. He agreed and said, "don't worry, I plan on making it fit."
