My left front turn signal bulb/DRL has burned out on my '09. How do I get to it? Does the whole socket turn out from the inside or do I need remove the outside bezel?

You have to remove the headlight from your truck and you should be able to pull the harness with the bulb in it straight from there(its been awhile since i took my headlights out.).

I'll bump this just in case im wrong.

for the drl you just reach down and youll see the wires. just gently turn it and it will unlock and pop out. should be an amber bulb. do not touch the new bulb with your bare hands. pull the bulb out pop the new one in and push the wire harness back into the hole and twist into locking position.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like a quick fix.

And in the FWIW category, I bought the Taco in Oct. '08 and this bulb is the very first thing to break. I have only had it in for oil changes and tire rotation and a few minor recalls. :D

Typical of my projects it took much longer than it should have. The bulb socket was easy to get to and twist out. I didn't see anything to squeeze to release the bulb and had to fight it to get it out. Equally I had trouble getting the new bulb in until it "clicked." I didn't have it in far enough and when I screwed the socket back into the housing the bulb fell out inside the housing. I could just barely touch it with a bare finger. After trying various methods I put a piece of rolled up duct tape on my finger tip sticky side out and after serveral tries got the bulb out. I was not looking forward to taking the whole assembly apart.

After fiddling with the new bulb I finally got it to "click" in. It took quite a bit of force. Are they supposed to be this hard to get in or out of the socket?

Sorry for the thread bump. Thanks, OP, for the "click" mention. I just replaced my DRL bulb with another incandescent and I needed to push harder to get that click to happen.

I don't know if there is enough metal in the bulb for a magnet to work. The last time I was at the dealer I chatted with them about the bulb issue and he told me that they have a special tool to fetch dropped bulbs. He told me to just bring buy the next time and they will snag it out for free.

There is, I though I had mine in all the way. Drove a mile and hyperblinking happened so I knew it fell out... I used my small screwdriver with magnet lol.
