Hi, is there a way to add a better tow hook on a 3rd gen without removing the front air dam valance?

Just to clarify, are you looking on a 2nd gen or 3rd gen?

No I want to take off the stock hook on the driver side and replace it with a better one. Still wanna keep the valance.

Is this for looks or function? For something functional you are probably going to need to cut a hole in the valance for it to fit.

Just for looks. The stock hook is hideous.

Can never remember which is which. Is that the tow hook or is that the tie down hook for truck transport?

    Yeah
That’s the tie down point. Do not try to recover from that welded loop. If you need to recover or to actually pull the truck in tow use the passenger side hook.

Indeed, tie down point. That thing will become a projectile if used to recovery the truck with any serious load on it.

If looks is all you care about, go at it with a zip disc and be done. Nothing is offered OTS to replace it, you need to add the ARB recovery point if you want something "for looks".

Disclaimer to avoid using the passenger side tow hook as a recovery point. While it'll work in a pinch (believe me, I'm guilty), it's not rated for it.

Bulletproof Fab has good quality bolt on hooks for both the drivers and passenger sides. Other than ARB, this is the only option until you do full bumper.

I’m sitting here trying to imagine what a cool looking tow hook looks like… Maybe you could paint the stock one pink? Sorry, man, I got nothing better for you.

You're right though. Same for Bulletproof Fab's option. Short of a steel bumper, ARB has the only front recovery point for Tacos.
