Found my first annoying occurrence whilst driving in whiteout snow conditions last night.

Once your radar sensor up front gets blocked by ice/snow, a message on the dash pops up telling you as much. That is not that big of deal, however even if you acknowledge that the sensor is disabled, the prompt keeps coming back no matter how many times it’s cleared.

Minor inconvenience and more just annoying, hopefully in a future software update Toyota can disable that.

As far as driving with the stock BFG Trail Terrain T/A’s that came on my TRD OR they did really well in the snow. I am super impressed with the traction control even in 2wd drive on the Taco. I came from Ford and I must say I’m impressed.

    This is all carry on!

Same problem as the 3G. In summer, long drives through bug forests will trigger the same warning. There will no software update. Just get used to cleaning it periodically until/if Toyota comes out with wipers for it. Nice truck.

Maybe the saftey sense can be turned off at the dealership? I'd give up all the radar cruise stuff to get rid of the pop ups while driving. Ford trucks give a warning when the camera gets blocked by moisture in the air, but I think it can be dismissed.

I get little dash light that stays on until it dries out which usually does not take long. Between an afternoon ride through a car wash, the neighbors sprinkler, and the morning dew the truck can get very wet. I figure if I can see out the windsheild I'm safe to travel.

I’ve never had that issue on either of my third gens. Oh wait, it doesn’t snow here.

I’m curious if you can get the message to go away by either:
    1. Switching from radar cruise to normal cruise
    2. Switching pre collision (or whatever Toyota calls it) off

It's not necessarily "the same issue" on a third gen I get that warning once then the light on the dash stays lit until the sensor is clear. The warning doesn't keep popping up every few minutes like is described here. That would annoy me.

Yes that’s it- the prompt that it’s been disabled that returns after acknowledging. Approximately every 7 seconds. The display cluster will still show pre collision, automatic headlight, adaptive cruise all disabled with their specific icons in yellow. Yet the message comes back via the system prompt in the middle of the screen.

It’s definitely not that big of a deal, but annoying for sure. This is the first Toyota I’ve owned, just wondering if this is new or something that’s been around for awhile

I wonder if there’s something you can put on it to keep ice and snow from sticking.

Ceramic coating should work I think....maybe not for ice though.

With the flat sensor on my pro rain x plastic helps alot in rain. In snow and freezing rain nothing is going to help.
