so I go out to my truck the other day and went to roll down the passenger window from the driver side and .... nothing! So I leaned over to the passenger door and hit the button and .... down it goes? So we start down the road and I had the passenger roll it it up and it went 1/2 way up and stopped then jiggled the button and it didn’t work so played with the button a little more and it goes up? So the driver button doesn’t work at all but the passenger button doesn’t want to work but if I messed with it it could? Does anyone know what this could be? I checked fuses and the day before the switches were fine? And I don’t think it’s the motor because we got it to move? And no it’s definitely not the child lock lol , thank you

Pull the door panel off and check for power and ground at the window motor connector, if power and ground are present then suspect a bad motor.

Sometimes this behavior is from a dirty/worn switch.

But both sides behaving the same says that's unlikely.

It can't be a fuse. They are either good or bad, not intermittent.

So as @Bebop suggests, if the voltage checks out and the connection is secure, it's likely the motor is on it's way out.

I'd squirt some silicone lube down the window track. May find a decent U-tube?

Ok so I took the panel off and jumped the wire for the passenger window and it rolls up and down just fine? It’s strange that the passenger door switch stopped working as well as the switch for the passenger window on the driver side though?

The switches are sort of wired in series. You need both switches for the window to move. It's kinda like the Christmas lights that if 1 bulb is bad, the whole string goes out.

IMO this is a temporary band aid. It should work fine without this and it wont last forever. Eventually, whatever is worn or broken will get worse and hopefully its not during a rain storm. One exception, i added a little silicone in there when i installed my in channel visors until they broke in.

My one maintenance item is i use aerospace 303 to clean and protect the channels. Cleans out dirt and keeps new debris from sticking pretty well.

Just bad switches , I looked at the driver door switches and it is a cluster module and then of course the passenger door is just the one and with them wired in series I suppose it has to go through the passenger door and back to the driver side so my final hypothesis is the passenger door switch needs replaced lol , thank you everyone for your responses!

Had/have the same issue, don't think it is a switch, in my case at least, only because the window was replaced after some asshat broke into the rig.

think mine might be a piece of glass or something in the roller track......will take it apart one day....

Suddenly, the passenger window would not work from either door switch on my 2016. I checked the fuses and power to the switches and regulator. All good. By grounding the yellow wire in the passenger door switch the window would go down, and grounding the blue, the window would go up. Regulator/motor is ok. So it seemed like the switch. I carefully opened the switch and bent the contactor arms to insure they were touching the power bars. I put the switch back together and it works fine now.

Hey Scott, could you tell me which fuses are for the RH window? Any fuses in the interior box, or just under the hood.??

My 2016 just went this way, after 5 years.

    Thanx man.

You forgot a couple, there are two fusible links and the relay that could fail as well making it look like a failed power supply.

I have a similar problem. Last night I installed an OEM automatic tailgate lock. The lock works fine, but now I'm having front passenger side window problems. From the driver side controls, the window doesn't work. But from the passenger side controls it works just fine. Everything else in the door works, too; mirrors, speakers and locks. The fuses check out, any ideas? Fwiw, the toyota app keeps telling me the window is down when it's not. Thanks!

Edit, I just realized this is in the 2nd gen forums. I'll leave it in case someone onow the answer here.

I'm having this issue as well with my passenger door window. 2012 taco. checked motor, all good. pulled out my motor and connected it to my friend's taco and it works. so, not the motor. fuses seem fine. could it be a wiring issue and, if so, where do I look? are there wires that run through the dash? if so, how do i access them? im def a wiring newbie here, with not much experience, so any help is super appreciated. thanks!
