    Hey Guys,

headed to Silver Lake in MI this summer and they require a font mounted flag. I was wondering if anyone has seen a mounting bracket that can be bought? or how to mount a flag to the front without too much fabrication or work?

You could always do a ditch light bracket

Yeah there's no space sadly, the light bar was a pain in the butt enough to get in.

I was thinking maybe have a bracket made that'll connect to the skid plate bolts

Or angle iron being the grill that has a piece welded and gusseted that would stick out fast enough

Dang, I go to the dez often and have never seen a front mounted whip on any vehicle/ATV.

I had to look it up you be right. Here is the reg:
    http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7-153-10365_15070-34760--,00.html

    (7) Operate a vehicle requiring seat belts without a warning flag mounted and extending over the front-most portion of the vehicle. Vehicles not requiring seat belts shall mount the warning flag on the rear of the vehicle. Vehicle operators shall comply with all of the following requirements:

    (a) The warning flag shall be mounted on a staff that is securely bolted, welded, or secured to the vehicle. The warning flag shall maintain a minimum 10-foot height at standstill and a minimum 8-foot height under motion.

    (b) The warning flag shall be mounted on the top-most end of the staff. The flag shall be rectangular, international orange in color, solid material, with a minimum length on the supporting side of five inches and a minimum length on the base side of 10 inches.

I would call the park and see if they have vendors onsite.

Bump. I went to Bundy Hill this past summer and threw together a flag mount, (same requirement as Silver Lake).
Bolted a piece of angle aluminum piece to the loop under the bumper:

    End result:

but i'd love a better, more durable solution.

    Thoughts?

Bolted this idea together today. For Silver Lake's dang front bumper flag mount rule. Thought about using angle, but ended up just trying this flat bar first. Used a piece of stainless flat bar 2"x 1/4" x 18 1/4" (may cut it back to like 17" and re-drill flag hole, tbt later). Bought an extra bolt in crossmember extension, part 5119304010, to use as the guinea pig. Drilled and bolted the bar to the extension with two 2 1/2" bolts, with 1 1/4" spacers fitted on the bolts within the extension, to prevent crushing. Put a big thick "washer" on the factory 17mm bolt that secures extension into frame tube, to keep tube from flexing when flag is whipping.

Usually only make one or two trips a year to there. Seems like it'll do the trick...

Quick unplanned trip to Silver Lake today (3hr drive).. first with this tacoma and needed to see if my homemade flag mount would do the trick. Bounced the hell out of it, flailed it every which way for a couple hours... held up perfectly. I did cut it an inch shorter in length and redrilled the 1/2" hole prior to today.

I more less use this Gladiator cargo net thing as a makeshift bed "cover" also, due to no options for cover now with this yakima rack, which is fine for what i need etc.. keeps things from flyin out of the bed and kinda hides things a bit, works for me.

Excellent, thanks for sharing. I did a quick search of TW for a dune flag/whip because I'd like to head to Silver Lake this year, and your post popped up with a perfect solution. Who knew a bolt-in cross-member extension even existed??

Your truck looks great on the dunes! :bikewhoops:

Did you ever get an answer to this question, the only place I found online was

    https://www.dunelandoffroadcenter.com/

the dang shipping cost more than the flag.

I ended up going with the dune land off-road center flag, in my opinion it was worth it, it seems to be high quality.

I just did something very similar to make my flag mount for Holly Oaks. They now have the same flag requirements as the dunes. I used 3/16 flat bar I picked up from Home Depot, cut to about 17” and drilled two 1/2” holes. I used the single bolt that holds the crash bar extension on next to the factory tow hook.

Held up great at Holly Oaks and I smacked it around pretty good! Had some steep declines and put it in the dirt more than once without the mount ever moving. Although, I do have a cheaper flag I picked up at Holly Powersports. My buddy had one from Duneland and the quality wasn’t even close. Mine worked great, but his was definitely nicer.
