Two plates aren't required here in Michigan, but the previous owner was in Connecticut which did require it, so the bracket is already mounted. I just need something cool to put up there.

I thought about removing it, but then I'd be left with 2 holes in the plastic, and I don't really feel like replacing the entire panel just because of those two holes.

Exactly! Why should we pay for infrastructure? It has never done anything for me!

here's what the 3rd gen flush mount option looks like...

i used some rubber washers between the mounting bracket and the front bumper, the license plate frame came from etsy.

I like the factory mount. At about 20 bucks I found it hard to beat. But that is probably just me.

I hate seeing the plate in photos so I just leave mine off. If I get a ticket, I'll just suck it up and pay the fine/fix it. If you do a lot of illegal things, don't give them any reason to pull you over. I don't worry about that so it's the same reason I run window tint even though it's illegal.

?? So ticket money goes to infrastructure? No wonder they need to pull everyone over.

Registration money does. Tickets usually have money designations. The department itself sees very little, if any, of that money. It all depends how the state dictates the allocation of it.

I am aware of where the reg fees go. They're broken out on the paperwork. A neighbor at our old house was a statey and said something very different about ticket revenue.

No front plates in AZ, which I’m thankful.

I know in PA very little of the fine goes to the department. Like a $190 speeding ticket which is only for 10-15 mph over posted. The actual fine is like $35-45, the rest goes to things often broken out on the ticket like, catastrophic loss fund, EMS services fund, judicial computer systems fund and more things like that. It's like when they needed cash to fund something they tacked on a new fee to fines. Make the sinners pay for it I guess. It's not limited to just traffic fines either.
