Need a pic to show the depth to seat the oil seal for the CV axle to the diff. On a 3rd gen taco. I just replaced my seal and for got to take a photo for ref. But the leak is still happening after the new seal.

I set the out diameter of the seal to be flush to the opening not the inner lip (if that makes sense) IMG_1357.jpg

I don't know, the actual seal area looks pretty darn dry, you SURE the leak isn't coming from elsewhere and just ending up at the lowest point?

IMG_1362.jpgIt’s looking like it could be this vent tube. Very little info on this currently

Is there a Clamp needed to reconnect? This is definitely a first

Yes, a clamp should be holding the hose to the barb.

If you’re looking for a spring clamp just measure the diameter of the hose at the breather on the driver side of the engine bay and go grab one from your local hardware store.

Or you can just grab a hose clamp.

It doesn’t need to be anything special.

I’m assuming though the tube came off on the diff side? The breather goes from the diff, to some rubber tube, then back to a hard line, then back to rubber tube where it goes all the way up to the driver fender in the engine bay. Probably easier to position a spring clamp back on it with pliers than trying to fish a worm clamp up there. But I’ve never had to put that one back on so idk how much hand space you have there.

This seems correct. Having to do and redo a few times to figure out myself.

Going with the normal hose clamp. I have very little space but will definitely need to drop my skid to do it. I had a serious Duh Doy moment overthinking the use of a spring clamp for the quickest possible resolve.

^What weight of oil did you fill your diff with? The first number (cold viscosity) should not be higher than 75W.

Reached out to Nitro Gears directly for clarification on the oil and they said that I could use 75w140.

It was mainly due to the oil that I procrastinated getting for my 500 mile drain / refill

So far no luck trying to get the hose to even come down to the fitting on the diff. Are there any kits available to basically retrofit a new breather line? I’m really struggling because I don’t have a spare set of hands and I’m afraid to pull the hose down toward the diff. To even barely try to connect to the breather fitting on the diff.

Update: I was able to drop the diff by way of loosening the mount/bracket hardware to its lowest point. This gave the clearance on the top side to fit my hand in with hose pliers.
After which, I used a long screw driver for leverage to slide the hose back over the breather fitting on the diff. I worked on this late at night and didn’t take photos along the way, but doing the above made it a lot easier to push the hose.
I also placed a weather proof zip tie to the upper portion/top section of the rigid pipe line to keep it from blowing off in the upward direction again. if this happens again, I’ll be sure to replace with a longer piece of hose.
only reason I didn’t was because I was trying to get this done on a work night to get it drivable before work the next day.
