Going up to 3.5” in the front on my 2020 and need to know if a diff drop is necessary? I know for the sake of the boots on the cvs over a long period of time it’s recommended but is it really going to affect the greasing that much if I don’t use one?

Diff drops are snake oil for vehicles like ours. They only lower the front half of the differential.

So not even really a necessity?

Might need a rear carrier bearing spacer but that's about it. No diff drop.

Not in my opinion. If it dropped all 3 mounting points and not just the front 2 than maybe it would be worth it....maybe. It puts the differential at an angle that it most likely wasn't designed to be in. It could possible put more load on the input bearing or other internal components. I'm not sure about you but I would rather replace CVs than differentials

It does help the angle of the CV. - VERY SLIGHTLY

I don’t know how the 3rd Gens are setup.
But us 2nd Gen guys dont think it offsets the cost a new oil pan when the Diff smacks a rock and then punctures the oil pan.

I’d rather take the risk on CV boots than a busted oil pan.

I'm lifted a hair over 2" and running a diff drop, my CV's are straight as an arrow.
If it's that sensitive then so would a leveling kit. Or putting a big load in the bed.

Those things would change the angle of the fluid inside the diff, which is a point that's typically bleated against diff drops.

No, you don't need one. It also won't harm anything by putting one in there.

Only 2.25” in the rear, might go bigger depending on if it’s visibly squatted after I put the new front struts/coils in. I’m more mad that I’ll probably have to run wheel spacers so my new ucas don’t rub my wheels or tires. But I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. Mostly just seeing if I need to spend any more money on dumb little parts

CVs will be fine without them? I mean it’s at 2.75” lift now and haven’t had any issues, we’ll probably more like 2.25 now with stock coils on eibach struts it seems to have settled a bit more than anticipated

The effect that a diff drop has on your cv angles is so negligible that it may as well do nothing. But you're also not harming anything by installing it. So if you want to add one because it makes you feel better, then go for it. If you don't care either way and are wondering if you actually need one, then don't bother.
