Try tapping it with a hammer - not hammering it just tapping it. Sometimes the vibration helps get the blaster into the threads.

Got a question here. Have a 2006 TRD Off-Road Access cab and looking to change the front diff oil. Do I need LSD additive for the front diff or does the Tacomas have an open front diff. 2006 year model

Just changed the front diff and TC @37k miles. Front diff was funktastic. TS was just a little dark.

    Great write-up.

Definitely buy a six point 24 mm socket and 10mm hex driver and a nice breaker bar for this. Definitely take the advice everyone has given for soaking the bolts and giving them a tap before trying to break the bolts. Definitely use either a torque wrench or caution not to over- tighten bolts.

I used Castrol full synthetic 75w-90.

Don't forget to lube the drive shafts while you are down there.

    Thanks a bunch!

Great tutorial! Finished front, rear and transfer today. Used royal purple on front and transfer and conventional mobil 1 with the lsd additive on the rear. Also had a grease gun ready and greased the drive shaft.

What an improvement! This truck's purring like a tiger at 109k miles!

Next on the list transmission flush and radiator flush.

Ok, so I found this info from my 2005 pre-runner manual:

    4 cylinder Pre-Runner:
    Manual transmission- 2.6 L 75W-90 GL4 or 5
    Rear differential- 2.8 L 90W GL-5

    4 cylinder 4X4:
    Manual transmission- 2.2 L 75W-90 GL4 or 5
    Transfer case- 1.0 L 75W-90 GL4 or 5
    Front Differential- 1.5 L 75W-90 GL5
    Rear Differential- 2.8 L 90W GL5

    4 Cylinder 2X2 (non 4X4, non pre-runner):
    Manual transmission- 2.6 L 75W-90 GL4 or 5
    Rear Differential- 3.31L 75W-90 GL4 or 5

I will look in my 2012 V6 4X4 manual soon, and post those numbers.

Nope. The front diff and transfer case are part of the 4wd system, you don't have to worry about it.

only size they had was for gallon bottles not the quarts and was too fat to fit down the bottle neck.
