My kid hit a garbage can and pierced the plastic on his 2006 Tacoma front bumper. In the past I had the kids buy prepainted front or rear covers off of ebay (not the best quality but kept me from getting pissed every time I walked by it) and put them on, this time I'm leaving fixing it up to the kid. Do you guys think one of the local plastic repair guys could easily tackle this? I never had something like this fixed before so thought I'd ask, Thanks.....Mark.

Very easy repair job. As a bodyman I look forward to getting easy fixes like that instead of half tore off bumper covers lol

Come on folks! You can’t dangle “it’s an easy fix” and then leave us hanging on what the fix is. (I’ve got a two inch slice in my front bumper and would love to know what the easy fix is for it:thumbsup:)

If its split or cracked, plastic weld stand, paint. If it's just dented, heat with a blow dryer or heat gun slowly as to not melt it, once up to temp, push from behind u till smooth, scuff , paint
For the OP, I'd charge 90 without paint, 150 to blend that spot

It can be done at home by heating it up and push it out from behind, just don't get it to hot and melt it, I would charge 80 with no painting and 150 to finish and spot paint it

Well, that's a bit to far for me to help you out, sorry. For around 100 to 200, u should be able to get a pro fix including paint, just depends on if u get the whole bumper cover re painted or just a spot paint and blend, hope that helps

I cut mine in half horizontally and took 2 inches out, then took another inch out of the center section. Took about 16 hours to plastic weld it back together and body work, I'm gonna spray that, mirrors and rear bumper with upol raptor tintable bedliner, just waiting on my base color. It looks kinda stock but not really

I have no idea why people are saying its an easy fix. For a professional its easy... but how much spare cash does your kid have?

The bumper needs to be sanded, bondoed, sanded, and repainted to be fixed.
Probably at least $500-$700 to have a body shop do.

The plastic is torn and the paint around it dented in. A heat gun doesn’t perform magic melting abilities to cure paint damage, in fact it makes it worse.

Its a plastic bumper peice. Its not going to rust or harm the truck. I wouldn’t pressure your kids to spend money to fix something they can leave. Especially not at an age where saving money for life is a much higher priority.
If it bothers you thats a personal issue you need to work through.
