Did both a google search and a search through the forums here but can’t seem to find a thread dedicated to 1st Gens with Swapped OE Front Bumpers.
I’m actually stuck between wanting to swap my front bumper on my 99 Tacoma with either a 96-97 Tacoma Front Bumper or a 96-98 4Runner Front Bumper. A 01-04 Tacoma Bumper on my 99 was an option till I decided not to do so because of the gap it creates in the middle between the grill and bumper itself.
Has anyone else done either swap? Better yet, I’d like to see other 1st Gens out there with OE Front Bumper Swaps/ Conversions. Post Them Up!!

    Here’s a 98-00 Tacoma with a 96-98 4Runner Front Bumper. Doesn’t look bad at all IMO.

You’d have to chop the frame horns on 98-00. They’re about 6” too long versus 95-97 and 01-04

What you’re not seeing is the side angle where the front of the bumper sticks out almost a foot. It just doesn’t look right.

I realize this with the pre 01 trucks. The 01+ trucks have a grille that sticks out farther. May not look horrible.

I would assume the frame horns would also have to be cut in order to do the 96-98 4Runner Bumper install as well?

A 96-98 4runner bumper will work, but the 99-02 "fat-lip" bumper looks way off on 95-97 and 98-00 trucks.
The conversion looks great on 01-04, though

if you want to try it anyway, be warned, it looks like this:

Man, my apologies if that’s your truck but that’s wayyy too out there for my taste. Also, I know you stated that a 96-98 4Runner Front Bumper would work but would you be able to elaborate on that?

no, fortunately, that's not my truck. As for the bumper swap, I haven't done it , but apparently, the bumper brackets are a bit different, so you have to drill some holes, as the holes don't align

Leer camper shell, tatami mat in the back, bumper hitch, potential 4runner front bumper swap.
What did you do with the signal lights? Just move over the housing from the Tacoma wholesale?

Did you need to drill holes in the front mounting bracket only, or also the fender bolts (the ones near the wheel)?

This is what I would like to do. Is there a templet for laying out the extra bolt holes?
