Is there a reason that I would not remove the air deflector on the bottom front of the vehicle? Is it functional or aesthetic? I am not a real fan of the look.

Does removing the deflector increase or decrease the drag?

    all tore up already
Increases drag when removed. That deflector channels air under the vehicle and toward the radiator. That being said its ugly and worthless and been collecting dust in my basement for 10 months. Take that shit off bro

Functional. It's there to increase efficiency through aerodynamics. Based on some anecdotal data around here (have to find it again), it would probably cost you somewhere between 0.3 to 1.0 miles per gallon-ish of gas on the highway, depending on your driving habits. If you hate money, the planet and/or the looks, take it off.

I don't really notice mine much at all, doesn't bother me. I rather keep my mpg even if it's a little bit.

Functional, but depends on what you'll use the truck for. From a highway driving perspective it will improve mpg, but from an off road perspective, your approach angle is less than it would be without it. I also agree with you that for looks, the truck looks better without it.

Try removing your skid plate to do an oil change... that just might be the time you decide to throw that crap in the recycle bin...

Mine got all warped and scratched the first day of some mild off roading. Decided to remove it, and never looked back since. However, I did notice a slight drop in mpg.

    See my sig for mods
While I was waiting for my 2017 Wednesday getting the trans reprogramming and trans fluid level checked, I was walking around the lot and noticed a brand new TRD that didn't have it on it, and I believe it was the sport model

TRD offroad doesn't come with the air dam... every other model does, I believe.

No BRO-ness to speak of... Well, except Kbro2's
I could be wrong, and believe me if i am 7000 people on here will immediatley attack like birds of prey and post cute little snippets of model specs to shame me... But i believe it is the OR that comes "sans front air deflector". Mine did not have it anyway. If it had come with one, it would have hit the trash with a quickness.

It's there for a reason. I'm sure the Toyota engineers didn't spend time and money adding something for nothing.
But it's your truck, so do as you wish.
