Neat but since you did the mirrors and vent visors, I would do the front and rear bumper and grille to match.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm thinking of going to go back to black actually on both. I still have the rack and bed to shoot black so would'nt be too hard (maybe next weekend)

Looks great man. Is this something someone w/ no experience w/ a paint gun can try? I've wanted to do this to my truck for a while...not sure I will tackle it, but still considering it. How much were the supplies and equipment needed to complete the job? Thanks for offering advice. Pete.

@pwgarcia I myself had little to no experience and found it to be as easy as countless videos via Youtube explain. You can get tons of advice on the process including how to shoot and get different textures. I easily watched 15 or so Youtube vids leading up to the job!

    My stats:

9 liters of 12 purchased used to do the Black and Tan you see. I have 3 more bottles to do the truck bed next. ~$400 at Amazon which comes with the gun and hardener

I got the Tintable option to be able to customize the tan. Go to your nearest car paint supply store (Tasco here in Austin, TX) to get the tint. It saved me about 50% costs vs ordering the 3-ounce tint bottles anywhere online. ~$100

Prep materials of tape, paper, and plastic. Gloves, ventilator (mask), borrowed a friend's 15gal Dewalt compressor, sanding supplies, acetone and rags for cleaning, tarps for overspray prob a few more things. ~$150

To be safe I would say you should plan for an $800 job. Or about 2 car payments if you were to buy a new truck ;)

I'd also pick a time you have a 3-day weekend. Could be done in 2 days easy if you prep leading up to it. I bondo'd multiple dents and some holes out of her which added a half day to the job. You could never tell now I backed into a few things!

@Taco critter i love that paint job on your truck. that kind of 80's rally style influenced my black stripe on the back side of mine

Looks fantastic! I’m debating this color, red or blue. I wanted to do it over the summer but raptor liner claims they are out of the sample sheet still ughhh. Were you able to get one?
How many layers did your spray? How rough is the texture?
Realistically I’ll probably bed line mine too since my clear is falling apart and I don’t like the green
How is it holding up? I’m between the 2 brands

@Nicklovin email monstaliner if you want paint samples - to me it felt softer than raptor liner

I was able to get some from them and I agree, monsta isn’t very texturized at all.

I don’t know about him but I raptored mine a year and a half ago and it’s holding up great. Haven’t lost anything and no fading

That truck turned out great! I’ve always been pondering spraying mine in that FJ beige colour. Every time I see someone with a post like this I get a little bit closer to doing it.. problem for me is I’ve got some rust to attend to on my rocker, and it showed it’s face a year after I welded on sliders… im thinking I gotta just cut those off to fix then weld back up somehow.
