Nothing to be afraid of. Slide the ball joint all the way out to the most outboard setting of the slot, then have the alignment tech do your alignment. SPC provides instructions with detailed photos.
I think if they were failing "a lot" SPC would not be in business anymore. You're correct, most of the issues reported were on their 1st and 2nd generation UCAs with the old bonded rubber bushings, and some of the failures were due to incorrect installation.

I have seen a lot of photos where the metal is snapped where the "U" meets the joints. Other brands seem to have reinforcements in that area.

Will these freedom UCA clear the coil spring with 3.5"+ lift and still be able to pass a front end aligment with factory LCA?

    Never enough, never done.
I’ve got 3-3.5”of life and they clear the springs and align well.

Update - i have been running the UCAs since march, they are still holding up and get me in alignment spec. I would say if your in the market to get SPC though. I dont like the ball joints on them as they are pretty crappy to say the least and the company has bad customer support. Has anyone else had to replace the ball joints yet? If so how did you do it?

You have to wait for ebay to announce a 20% of site wide sale.

I'm looking at getting some 6112's so I'm in the market for some UCA's to go with them. Does anyone know how much castor these are constructed with? Has anyone swapped out the BJ on them to comment on how easy or difficult the process is? The replacement BJ's are only $35 on their site. Also, @Tacofab Solutions , how do you like their coilovers? Do they really lift 2.5" minimum? Do you happen to know their spring rate? THey seem like a pretty good deal as well for only $500

Did you ever find out what this is? I’m having a similar issue that seems to happen when I hit a bump at a decent speed. Almost like the wheel drops fast and maybe bottoms out on something? But it’s only the passenger side and I know it’s not at full droop. Heard the same noise once backing up at full lock left and on a slant where the passenger side was raised up. It’s driving me nuts. Thought maybe my winch hook was banging around but who the hell knows...

Before taking off the sway bar and rubberizing the wheel well but you get the picture. Got better alignment specs, and the ride is much better. Much better clearance than stock UCAs too. 4CA36573-986D-418E-B599-94A3EC7ECFA1.jpg

Nothing but great things to say about these UCA’s. One question though for people who have them. How much grease are you pumping into your zerks and how often?

Do these arms actually change the alignment? I need some basic uppers (mall crawler) to get my alignment back in spec. I am at +.7 Camber and +1.5 Caster with the lower adjustments being maxed out. Will these arms help with positive caster?

Ok good, because the guy from their CS told me the arms do not correct for caster.

I can post the conversation with the rep, but reading it will make your head explode. I needed some feedback from someone who actually knows something.

    Thanks for the response.

    Bilstein 5100's & freedom uca's
I recently installed freedom uca's and now my tires are scrubbing my cab frame. Any suggestions? I have 5100's set at 2.5" and AAL in rear. Wondering if the extra caster caused it to scrub.
