I'm just trying to figure out which one I should install on my Tacoma:

FOX 2.0 with remote reservoir rear shocks ($1500) or Bilstein 6112/5160 ($1180)

My plan is to install this items with 2" lift:

    - JBA upper control arms
    - Icon 1.5 add a leaf
    - Method wheels 703 (bead grip) 17x8.5 +00 offset
    - BFG KO2 A/T 285/70r/17 (I'm ready to cut and trim to fit them if necessary)

I'm not really concerned about the price difference between Fox and Bilstein. I just want to hear your thoughts on which one is better overall. I'm new to the community btw )))

Also I’m no expert I’ve been asking similar questions about similar setups and from what I’ve been learning it really depends on what you’re going to be doing with your truck.

Fox is progressive if I recall. I have the 6112 5160 and there digressive. I prefer the digressive myself. That’s all the input I can give. I’m happy with my set up

Thank you. I pulled the trigger and purchased 6112/5160 while it was still available lol. What is your truck set up? Did you replace your UCA?

I love my wifes trucks 2.0 fox coilovers and 2.0 rear with reservoirs. They are super plush crawling on rocks and great road manners. Took her out today and did great.

I have them set on 3/4 clips and OME leaf pack out back. No UCA as of now. I run 265/70/17 KO2. Got about 35-40k on the whole set up zero issues

Main difference is progressive vs digress shocks. If you’re overlanding then probably go digressive to handle the weight. If you’re speeding through the desert in a light truck then go progressive.

I guess I maid the right choice with Bilstein. I lived in Colorado when I purchased my truck, but now I'm in Oregon. I need my truck to handle a relatively hard trails, which I can't do right now with my stock Tacoma. Thank you for your advise! I learn something new everyday in here )))

digressive will definitely give better control when it comes to tough trails! But yea on water boards they’ll be harsher. Progressive shocks are more plush as previous person commented.

On road the 6112/5160 pair is great too! Cornering is much improved control with less body roll than stock. You’ll notice it immediately.

I second all of this. I run washboard Forrest roads out here in Washington all the time. With a camping load I can do 25- 30 all day and feel grounded and not sliding or stepping out on the ass end. That’s about the sweet spot for gravel washboard for me.I couldn’t do that stock. I also have super bumps front and rear and those are a huge help. On road manners are light years better then stock

I have the Fox 2.0 without the remote reservoirs. I'm still close to the factory height at around 1.5 inches of lift all around

Try and collect on the warranty... All I can say is good luck on that.

Having run both back to back on a deferent vehicle, there is absolutely no comparison for longevity and performance, Fox all the way. But it really depends on where you want that performance. I’ve run Bilstein on road / track cars for years, and they are great for road, always my go to shock for road vehicles. off-road is a different story, imo they suck! and I’ve blown out too many that I simply won’t use them for any vehicle I use off road anymore.

i mean it depends on what you mean by off road driving. How heavy is the vehicle, how fast are you going, what’s the terrain like, what kind of ride are you trying to achieve (comfort vs control)?
