Back story: I am getting some fox 2.0’s for free and want to get them rebuilt and have heavier coils put on (they come with 600 I believe). This will give me a fox setup for much less than new obviously.

But.....is there a 700lb coil for this shock?

I have been searching around and can’t find a definitive answer.

    my questions:

    1. Is there a 700lb coil for the fox 2.0 shock?

    If not....

    2. is anyone running the fox 2.0 shock with a 700lb coil meant for a 2.5 shock? The eibach seems to be a popular choice (14” 700lb coil)

I have emailed fox and they said yes, however, this has contradicted some other emails I received back from other offroad shops. So just want some real life experience prior to investing anymore time and more importantly money..

    Thanks in advance

The 2.0 and 2.5 Coilover use different springs.

You will need to use a 2.5" spring for your Fox 2.0.

    The 2.5 Coilover uses a 3.0" spring.

    I have not seen a 2.5x14x700 spring ( King maxes out at 650 )

But, it doesn't hurt to call King or Fox and see what they say

How much weight do you have up front that you need 700lb springs?

Currently fully armoured, winch with steel cable. 700lb would be ideal. Currently have the OME with the 886 coils which are over 650lb if I remember correctly.

I currently looking at the eibach coils which are 14” and 700lbs, but I am not sure if they will fit

    Okay so @Downsouth Motorsports rock!

they have informed that the 2.0 shocks require a 2.5” coil. I just thought a 2.0 shock required a 2.0 coil which I wasn’t able to find.

however the stock fox shocks (2.0) for the Tacoma utilize a 3.0 coil.

    thanks DSM for clarifying this!

I thought I answered all that for you :notsure:

    Haha! All good though.

    Are you sure the Fox 2.0 uses a 3.0 spring ( mean't for the 2.5 coilover )??

edit: yes you did mention that. Flew over my head but I was looking for a definitive answer on what coil fits the fox 2.0 shock for the second gen taco. Fox said the 3.0 shock fits but then been hearing different hear and there.

Still waiting for my buddy to get his shocks installed so he can give me his used 2.0’s. Then they will get rebuilt and 700lb coils.

Just to follow up on this some of the information above is incorrect. The 2.0s use a 3" coil just like the 2.5.s I swapped to 3 x 14 x 700lb coils on my 2.0s and it made a world of difference in height gained back and deleted the sway bar while I was at it.

The shocks I was originally getting were coming off of a third gen who was running his stock coils if that helps. I wasn’t aware at the time that they were 700

With the resurrection, I ended up going with 2.5 Elka shocks. Can get them with the heavier coils from factory. Bit more spendy but so far so good

My old man emus shocks failed pretty bad. With the amount of miles they had though I can complain.

in this image you can see the shock on the left is much longer as it broke the internal bump so it extended an extra inch or so
