Absolutely, tossing big flies in shallow water sight fishing them is quite the experience. Water temps aren't shaping up well for that just yet so I'm expecting them to hunkered own a bit deeper and quite slow yet. Turning into a pretty late spring

So I may cause a war here. Fishing the Shenandoah River by Elkton VA. Caught over 20 bass and 2 trout just from the bank. Most were 8-12 inches, but this one 3 lb (yes I weighed it) smallmouth hit like a truck in the fast moving water!

Sadly, I only caught fish on crankbaits. But - here is a real cool poser pic with the fly road. Maybe some day I can be a real man and catch something worthy on flies. Until then, the beer was cold at least...

Signed - "my wife allowed me to post this pic in the cool fly fishing group..."

Man it was a tough week for big pike, was able to find them but they sure didn't want to move. Got a pleasant suprise finding this stud of a 31" walleye in the shallows. After putting some hours on that streamer x it is a deadly rod. Really have to give credit to echo for the performance they packed into that price point.

Has anybody fished the Animas in Durango? I will be there for 5 days next week and will be able to fish in the mornings before the family wakes up. I will not be taking all my gear just a single fly rod, undecided between my 3wt and 5wt, and the basics. I will not be taking waders so either shore fishing or wet wading depending on water temps. Any tips would be helpful. I will be spending some money at the local fly shops to try and get tips as well.

Small trout and bass are SC. SC ain't the best trout state to live in but there is some decent wild fish if you don't mind walking. Hatches ain't the best either. Stock stuff is roadside if you like it.

Finally got out to the Upper Owens/Hot Creek. Flows are still stupid high and the water color was dirty but worked hard to get a couple of fish.

    Nice photo.

How far of a hike in is it? Around here if you hike in more then a mile you've got 90% less fishing pressure. If you hike in more then 3 miles there's usually 0 fishing pressure. lol

It's not far in but not the easiest to access and the fish are tiny but all over the place. So I think most don't bother with it. It's generally a trip I do with the misses to work on her skills. The views up there are worth the trip alone though

Anybody here Figure out how to integrate a rod Vault with a rooftop tent?

Is the only real option to put it on the top of the tent? Seems like it'd be hard to get to if you were camping and wanted to store them there without dropping the tent.

And yes I know I'm a total poser and how people feel about both on this forum :)
