Flush mount lights in rear bumper?

Anyone attempted this? I haven't really gotten into it, but it looks like it would involve a lot of cutting to fit them.

 

Was going to go that direction but changed my mind and opted for the Cali Raised brackets that go on the rear bed rail. Just ordered them. So can't say how they work but looking forward to seeing.
You will have to order the rail also it fits from the 2nd gen And you can get at the dealer or on Amazon

I used the Rigid SR-M flush mount backup light kit to mount in my bumper. I was changing the chrome inserts out for black ones, so I added the bumper lights when I changed the inserts.

While I was doing that I mounted a couple of Rigid Ignites in the end of the tubes on my Snugtop XTR shell. The rear camera works much better at night now.

I'll take a picture tomorrow and try to figure out how to post it here.

Sorry it took so long to post these. The top lights (Rigid Ignites) come on when in reverse. All 4 come on with a switch.

Love these lights! I have a new Tacoma, love to fish and camp, need light in the back. I have a couple of BD flush mount floods that I want to imbed in bumper. Then I looked at the bumper from back, seems like it is tough to cut a hole in that area where you installed. Was it tough?

 

You could mount to the existing holes. Still higher than the hitch and allows swiveling.
In the bumper is nice, but output is fixed

Yes that is the setup I am going with, I think I will start that today, and see where I end up!

 

Still have to do other side and wiring, but they are coming out well, picked correct spot, nice void in there.

I was expecting to to be a little tougher looking at the underside of the bumper, but after measuring for about 2 hours, only took 1 to cut, drill harness holes and install!

Now just need to run harness under hood and I am done.

 

Rigid ignites. Amazing light output for the size.

Looks like you got it figured out and did a great job installing the lights. To answer your question, I pulled the bumper to replace the chrome inserts with black ones so I installed the lights at the same time, it was a piece of cake.

If I were just installing the lights I think I would still pull the bumper (the bumper is easy to pull) instead of trying to measure to find the pockets in the bumper. That had to be tough finding the pockets by measuring, I don't think I could do it accurately enough. But you did a good job and your lights look great.
