I have searched many forums but no exact answers. I had a friend spray the underside of their Tacoma with Fluid Film. I just wasn’t sure if there were items or areas to avoid. He said no, but before I do mine I want to make sure I don’t spray something that the Fluid Film could damage, cause issues with operation or whatnot. What are y’all’s thoughts on this?

    Thanks much!

Nope! Spray the ef out of everything.

OR, you could check with fluid film directly.

FluidFilm website says to keep it off certain foam rubber.
I avoid getting it on the door seals for that reason.

Other than that, I’ve used it all along my frame with no problems.
I do try to keep it off the exhaust components. Just to avoid any smells.

That is exactly what I saw on their page. So sounds like one could more or less… “Spray the ef out of everything!” :)

Ok I plan to mask off from the rockers down with plastic so it will only be on the underside of the truck.

I bag rotors and and drums, wrap exhaust with wax paper. Spray the heck out of everything else.

Doesnt matter what you mask off. Just had mine done again on Saturday. Burns off the exhaust on the trip home. Smartest thing I have done since my new frame. (use PFC though.....not FF)

    This.
Do yourself a favor and get a Woolwax kit with a gun (if you already have a compressor). So much better than dicking around with a bunch of spray cans. Plus, it doesnt stink as bad as FF.

dd light bars, trd cat back exhaust, KDMax tuned, trd skid plate, 2" lift, sema wheels toyo open country at3 tires.
spray everything but, the brakes directly, and the exhaust. I spray the backing plates for the brakes lightly. they are thin, and prone to rust, rot, bending, and noise. I just did mine yesterday with Surface Shield. same product as FF and WW. the first 2 years I did FF, last year I did mostly WW, this year was all SS. I think it goes on thicker, and will last longer. time will tell. buy the kellsport kit, with the pro gun, it is the original gun for this. then pick whatever corrosion protection you want. buy 4 of the smaller cans to do the hood (pay special attention to the front leading edge), the bottoms of the doors, and the inside of the tail gate. the kit does the larger areas better, the cans get into the smaller harder to reach areas. good luck. Avoid your rear wheel splash guards & the rubber splash guards on both sides of your front strut towers. Everything else is fine to spray.

First of all if living in the salt belt, i'd never use fluid flim again. Cosmoline is a far better longer lasting option. You want to avoid any rubber, or plastic components. Try not to get the stuff on the exhaust...or it really will stink. Try to get the insides of the fame sections best as possible. Helps to remove all the wheels, engine shield, and spare tire first. Don't forget the insides of the rear bumper there's metal brackets where salt can collect.

We're going to have this argument again?? I live in Massachusetts and use Fluidfilm and Woolwax and it works perfect as advertised. You and I have had this debate on another thread so if anyone wants to see it they can search it. Nothing wrong with Cosmoline but Fluidfilm and Woolwax are awesome products that do what they are intended to do.

Word, i live in the "salt belt" too, and fluid film has done a fine job for me.

Everything but the brakes. I go especially heavy over some of the electronics under it like the 4x4 actuator on the transfer case that likes to fail.

99% of the time those fail due to water intrusion through cracked vent lines. Personally I avoid hitting those with FF, that way I can inspect easier and see any dry rot forming.
