Hi everyone. I have a 2014 Tacoma Sport Full Cab Manual Trans short box with 22000 miles. I live in snowy Canada but fortunately they don't salt the roads in the rural area I live in. Trying to decide between Fluid Film or Rust Check. What do you guys (gals) think is best. TIA

If they do the same thing, go with the less expensive. The important thing is just keep up with it. Keep the metal treated so rust can not damage the metal.

Rust check is a service that sprays your undercarriage for a fee. Where fluid film is a diy, I guess you would say.

If I took the $140.00 that one yr of rust check would cost and applied it to buying fluid film. That would buy me 3 gal of FF, that would last me 9 yrs.

Fluid Film isn't stinky oil stuff and easy to apply. Jack it up, power wash, dry then spray it on.

In the sandwiched areas of the frame near the front of the truck, I use chain/cable lube that I buy at Wal-Mart. It's a little lower viscosity than Fluid Film and really creeps into those areas nicely. When the solvents evaporate, you're left with a nice sticky oil in those spots. I think Fluid Film is a little thick for those spots unless you spray it on when it's nice and hot outside. I use Fluid Film too, but I supplement with the chain/cable lube.

I did this for years on my 98 T-100 and the rockers and cab corners were solid when I sold it this last spring. I also hose up into the weep holes in the pinch seam on the rockers.

I hate to admit it, but up until last year I didn't know much about Fluid Film. Good stuff, just a little thick for all areas in my opinion.

A little trick is to warm it up before you spray it on. I use a undercoating gun, warm it up and it comes out as a fog.

Just curious of everyone's opinion about coating the frame once before winter, as opposed to coating twice a year (before winter and in the spring). I have used FF for about 4 years and have only applied it before winter, but curious if it's worth the twice a year application.

So what did you do? FF? I'm in Vancouver and have found a Rust Check in Pemberton. Hoping to pick up new truck soon!

Actually its a "Corrosion Free".... Internet seems to say good things in general. And who doesn't believe the internet?

So while we're on this topic, how or what does anyone suggest to apply fluid film? I've usually gone to rust check, but really thinking about diy.
I've got a cheap 100psi compressor, so what else I need?

I would use the new wool wax ( same as FF but thicker and doesn’t smell) .

I use 1 undercoating gun with compressor
2 - qt plastic bottles that attaches to gun
1 - rattle can FF with 360 degree head for tight spots/ holes in frame

or you can buy a kit here. https://www.kellsportproducts.com/

@Marc70 I wore rubber gloves, sprayed it on my fingers, and got to wiping. In hindsight I should've sprayed it...but I became intimately familiar with the underside of my truck ;)

Side question regarding Fluid Film. Have any of you had your truck painted after using Fluid Film? My truck got hit and is in the body shop but they won't paint it because of the Fluid Film. They say that it will mess up their painting systems in a major way. I told them that I can get it off, but they said that even a small spec hiding in a nook or cranny would be an issue. Have any of you dealt with this before? I called Fluid Film and they said they hadn't heard of this, but a few auto body shops near me said that yes it is an issue, although they aren't familiar with Fluid Film. Any info would be great. Thanks.

If you buy fluid film in the cans it works great for spraying inside of the frame
