Flue tape ok for muffler use?

Firstly, I wasn't quite sure what forum to put this in so if the moderator community feels the need to move it, please do so.

My question is this: I need to make some repairs on my muffler and was thinking about getting flue tape to seal some joints (I don't weld). HOWEVER, most flue tape I've been able to find is only rated to 600°f (aboot 316°c for our northern neighbors). Is that a high enough rating for a muffler/exhaust system?

 

If all you need is a patch to get by to pass smog then yes. But if looking for a proper repair without welding. I'd use a metal repair patch kit type.

Is there a reason why your not fixing it correct??

I might patch a exhaust system if I was 500 miles from home and the noise was giving me a head ache .
