Flowmaster Super 10 with stock muffler?

Has anybody ever put a Super 10 in front of their stock muffler? I'm doing an exhaust cutout just in front of the mufflerand I think it will be far enough back to get one in there. I just don't care all that much for the high school kid raspy sound, but I love the sound of the 10. My only real concern is that it would add too much backpressure and hurt efficiency when the cutout is closed.

 

Never heard of running 2 mufflers before. I certainly wouldn't.

 

People who have gone with long tube headers and aftermarket ypipe run 2 mufflers often and have been doing that for years.

Ive never heard of 2 mufflers on otherwise stock exhaust tho.

Odds are it wont be much different than adding a resonator?

 

Ok yeah I feel like it might add too much backpressure. I'm thinking about just getting a straight through resonator now, any recommendations? I just want to get rid of the rasp.

 

Right...I meant in a stock-ish setting such as this one...

 

IMO the V6 is always kinda raspy. I would guess the resonator would make it a little quieter, but it's just a guess.

 

Also what size is closest to our stock midpipe size? 2.5 or 2.25? Nobody seems to be able to come to a consensus on this...

 

I swapped my muffler for a super 10...it’s inconsideratly loud in 90% of circumstances....

 

I was talking about putting it in front of the stock muffler like a resonator. I left the stock one in and just put the cutout in though. I think I'm just gonna leave it how it is. I have a DMH electric valve coming so I can make it quiet before going into my neighborhood.

 

Also in case anyone later on finds this thread and wants to know, you have to get a 2.5 inch cutout and flare the ends a bit to make it fit because the tacos have about a 2.5 inch midpipe.

At one point I even short piped it and turndown. Even worse...

Surprisingly not but straight volume loud and horrible drone.

 

I replaced my stock muffler with the Super 10 and dual tips and I love it. Idk what your specific tastes are but mine is not raspy of fart can sounding like a Honda. Not a deep rumble either. The best way I can describe it is a low tone but no bass to it. It only seems to sound aggressive between 750-1500 rpm.

I’ve tried getting one with my phone but it really doesn’t represent the sound very well. I was surprised that their most aggressive doesn’t sound obnoxious but then again, it’s really a matter of opinion. (My last truck was a 77 c10 with a 350 sbc with headers and straight pipes) However, I have nosy busy-body neighbors that like to complain a lot, and they haven’t said anything about since I got a month ago if that counts for anything.

 

Try running 3.5" flowmaster Delta Force 1 chamber race mufflers behind a 12.1:1 SBC and trying to keep your neighbors happy

 

Haha I live in the city now. I hate apartments but I’m close to work now. When I had my c10 I lived in the sticks. Everyone thought it had a cam but no. It just sounded good
