I did a search and didn't see any threads on the Flowmaster cat back system for the 2016. I recently installed the system on my Tacoma. Here is my 2 cents. The system was fairly is to install, however, the clamps, included with the kit, were poorly designed and did not keep pipes tight. I purchased fitted clamps from NAPA to correct this issue. It took a bit of tinkering to get the pipes aligned. The design and quality of the Flowmaster system is not near as good as Borla, but Borla does not offer a dual outlet system. As far as the sound, I would describe the Flowmaster as annoying and obnoxious. It is a bit loud for my taste and at cruising speeds the tone is a buzz that makes ears feel like they are popping. I ended up swapping the Flowmaster muffler for a Borla to make the exhaust tone more to my liking. In regard to Flowmaster customer service, I called them regarding the clamps and the tech said the system was made to be welded. When I advised that no where in the instructions was welding mentioned, the tech had no response. When I emailed them about the poor clamps I received no response.

Not good news for me. Just bought a 2016 double cab long bed and was about to order the Flowmaster system. Not sure which way to go now. My son-in-law has the system on his 2008 which he installed right after purchasing his truck in 2008 and has had no problems at all. Exhaust sound is relative to individual taste so that doesn't bother me but quality of materials and customer service does. Anyone else have some input on the Flowmaster system or any other dual exit system.

Which borla muffler did you go with and do you like it a lot more? I have the Borla catback system on order right now. Comes with one of the S-type mufflers.

    Notice any drone?

Went ahead with the Flowmaster purchase. System arrived with box in tact and ready to install. When I went through all parts I found that the left muffler exit pipe and one of the left side tail pipes were out of round and would not accept the mating pipes. Called a Meineke shop to have the damaged pipes shaped properly. They did so and offered a decent price to install the entire system so I had them do it. All pipe joints were welded because the clamps were poor.
As I said in an earlier post, sound is relative to ones likes or dislikes so I'm satisfied with the sound. System looks good as well.

OP: did you have the muffler on long enough to complete the break-in period (the standard mileage to deaden the annoying drone and other tin can sounds)? My Magnaflow called for a 700 mile break-in period during which the exhaust hushed significantly. I took video to compare at regular intervals up to 1,500 miles, by which time the sound was significantly less with no drone or buzz. My exhaust sounded BAD at first, but I'm satisfied with it now.

You wouldn't happen to have a YouTube channel to view those clips or the ability to put them up here would you? I would love to here what the new motor sounds like with different vocal cords.

There is no break in period with a chambered muffler, only with packed mufflers. Flowmasters generally sound like crap no matter what they're on but unfortunately we don't have a whole lot of options. Just keep in mind it's a V6 and a relatively small one at that. Its never going to sound aggressive or anywhere near what a V8 sounds like.

Not bad at idle, gets rice rattle up top though.

Can I assume the cat-back system' all retain or utilize the factory Y-Pipe?

I've had Flowmasters on my last 2 trucks, and the sound actually changes a lot once the insides turn black. When they're new, they are more tinny. I think they sound great on a V8.

Maybe so. They sound great at idle, too raspy up top. I love the Hooker Aerochamber. Give it a shot, you won't be sorry.

I don't think there are any options. Just the Aerochamber. Ran it on my Grand Cherokee 5.9L with a full custom exhaust and 3" from the Y pipe back. Loved it and will use it on any V8 vehicles I own in the future.
