Does anyone have any experience with flipping the bottom leaf spring to maximize lift? need another inch clearance (already have a 1" block) to create enough room for new 17" wheels with bfg mud-terrain ko 285/70 tires. Would adding a leaf be more practical?

You mean the Factory overload leaf ? The really thick one? I wouldnt flip that one. The leafs would hit it and it would slam , that leaf is stifff. Yes add a leaf is a way better idea.

You will end up breaking the overload if you flip it. It's not designed to flex.

or at least installing one...lol...thanks guys...just didn't want to payout the cash for new springs just yet. I'll try adding a leaf and see if that will get me by, at least for a little while...

I know its an old post but oh well. I flipped my load carrying leaf and added an AAL have had it for 4 years no problems. Yes it slams every now and then and you can hear it if your going over speed bumps to fast or going over whoops fast but as long as you are not carrying too much weight in the bed it should be fine. Ive hit whoops at about 40mph with camping gear in the back and it is fine. Also consider the rear shocks you have.
