Flip Up/Down License Plate Bracket

This is pissing me off!! I bought a license plate flip up/down bracket and it makes no sense how the hell to attach this thing.....Im so damn confused. First off there are springs on this thing that I dont understand what loads them and how that works. The top holes where the springs are dont line up to my bumper and if I used it like this it just dangles and my license plate would be swinging back and forth hitting my bumper. Also I know a ton of yall have Bruteforce rear bumpers, how did yall mount yalls tags w the hidden hitch. The plug as well makes my license plate stick out. Please post lots of pics as how you mounted the plug or license plate bracket and how it all works together.

I had to drill my bumper for that holder. The 2nd pic is how it should go on. The lettering for the "unleaded" fuel bit will be backwards. The springs will work when bolted up and the lic plate assy will flip up from the bottom. You will need to test fit the swing so you can locate the drill holes right in the bumper and it doesn't jam. I painted it black so it doesn't stick out horribly. Make sure you use a nylock nut or some anti rattle off hdw. Cheers.

In the second pic is the long wire attached to the spring supposed to go in that notched area so there will be tension on it when flipping the license plate up?

 

Im not sure that this particular one would work with the aftermarket bumper but I could fab something up similar to this to fit your needs

 

Ill def let you know once I get this license plate bracket figured out. That looks sweet by the way, but not sure I wanna drill to much into my bumper. I am open to options though.

 

Thanks for the pic quick question does anyone know if it is illegal for your tag not to be visible while towing a boat, etc. w your vehicle? I understand there is one on your trailer or whatever your towing.

I had a flip up holder off an older jeep wrangler I used for a long time. Only problem was when it was flipped up the plate wasn't visible. So I ended up just using two of these little threaded clips (See pic) and two Alan key screws to mount the plate right to the bumper. I use the upper holes of the plate when not towing. Then it takes 30 sec to unbolt the two screws and then just move the plate up and use the bottom two holes on the plate and your hidden hitch is exposed. Only downfall is you cant open your tailgate all the way.

 

Best I have of the rear right now. Looking for more.

Thanks for the pic wish I had bought that mount. looks way better than the one I got.

 

Yeah those brackets are both different than mine and look easier to install seems mine doesn't mount up easily or fit correctly unless you mod it some. Shit guess ill give it another shot when I get home.

 

Anyone else have the same bracket as me without having to drill holes in my new bumper?

 

You'd have to find a bracket that has mounting holes the same width as the license plate holes to not have to drill. Mine would have to be drilled narrower. Looks like yours is pretty close, but just a tad wider.

 

When I put the bracket up to the holes on my bumper the holes on the bracket are lower than my bumper but the same width.
