I have a clutch fluid leak on a 2000 Tacoma V6 manual transmission. It is leaking where the flexible hose attaches to the hard line to the clutch release cylinder. I tried to unscrew it but it is supper tight similar to a rusted brake line. I sprayed it with penetrating oil but no luck so far. Any ideas?

Are you using a tubing wrench on the line or a regular open end wrench? If you use a regular open end wrench you will strip the fitting.

Tubing wrench. I got some decent torque on it and did not strip it, but no joy.

Usually a tubing wrench does the trick, not sure why it isn't coming loose. Any corrosion on the fitting? If so, let the penetrating fluid sit on there a little longer and do it's thing. Good luck with it!

    Heat helps everything come loose.

Not all penetrating oils are equal either. Some are almost worthless...

I have been doing this a few years since the early seventies .

Being out of position I still try turning things the wrong way .

Have you managed to break either end loose ??

Might be easier to just replace the lower steel line as well

I took it to a mechanic and here is what I see he did to fix it. The flexible hose doesn't unscrew from the bracket, the metal hydraulic fluid line is screwed directly into the hose at both ends. Therefore you have to unscrew the metal preformed lines from both ends of the flexible hose similar to brake line fittings (the small 10mm or something). I don't know how it actually comes loose from the two brackets. Looks like he drilled out the top one and added a custom piece of plating to hold it in place.

I thought you knew things came apart like all other brake lines.

Glad you got it sorted out
